So this year's NaNo was basically a bust...again.

It started strong, then had a couple meh days then basically nothing for a couple weeks. Then I got hit with a different idea and I got a few thousand words into it. Then I figured out how I might get that idea to actually go where I wanted it to but it will require some reworking of what I've already done (and a lot of words in the middle to get there).

And I still have the question of how one actually finds a beta reader in these times. Actually at this point it's more like a cheerleader (but hopefully eventually a beta reader) as I'm so out of the fic writing game that I have little to no confidence in my writing.

To that end I have ended up rereading some of my old fics, and it has been a reminder that I don't completely suck as a writer. And a reminder that I should probably actually post stuff to ao3 at some point in case lj/dw vanish. Also maybe pick up a few new readers if I'm lucky. But in order to justify not back dating things I feel like I should at least be able to call them remastered and correct some typos that slipped through the crack.

I guess that's a project I could do...but I have other projects both fannish and real life, so we'll see.

And along those lines, if anyone is still out there, reading this, and wants to keep me thinking about old fics, feel free to ask me things about them. I may not be up for a full commentary, but I have memories.

So this must be a new record for years I've tried to do NaNo, I couldn't even get started. I was feeling super braindead all day and couldn't manage words. If that doesn't change direction soon I'll end up having to call it without even trying.

Oh Castle, you’re so perfect. Even if the bad guy reveal was a little obvious, everything else was just perfect.

Now if only staring at this word document would bring my muses around. I’m “doing” wrisomifu (though not really participating in the comm while "doing" it) but things like episode reaction posts, to do lists, etc. count on that front. My muses remain stubbornly absent though, maybe I need to do another dvd commentary of something.

I’m not sure this counts as ten minutes of writing today though. So let’s throw in a meme.

I keep trying because I want to get back to this happy little world where s4 didn’t happen (where no one is all that happy but at least s4 didn’t happen) but it’s like pulling teeth to get any words out and once I do they’re just a mess.

You know, I find I have to agree with something turtle_goose said a few weeks back. Watching Castle sometimes I find myself thinking how glad I am that this show ISN”T The Vampire Diaries. I’m not really one for police procedurals, and in some ways this reminds me WHY (hello always wishing the show was more serialized and desperately eating up the storylines that ARE whenever they show up), but it’s also a reminder why I should watch more adult television (not to say I don’t watch any more adult shows but I’ve been sort of immersed in TVD for a bit).

(turtle_goose has also made me interested in this idea of Castle/TVD crossover stuff because of reasons.)

I really should put together a post on my Castle thoughts, because I have them it turns out. If nothing else I could go add it to my list of shows I could review episodes from (not that I’ve been doing much of that recently). But I will do a quick rundown of my feelings on this season so far.

5x01: Kate Beckett for queen of everything.

(Now to go back to staring at my NaNo project while more likely poking at fanfics. Even then barely enough to get around the bad case of writer’s block I’ve got going.)

You know I thought I was doing a good job writing yesterday, but once I reached a standstill I started thinking about how I see the story going and I may have to start it AGAIN. The plot keeps tripping me up; why did my ethical debates and negotiations with added smut have to start having plot?

Also, I seem to be thinking about watching some recent DW. I don’t actually want to watch it as much as I want to have watched it so I can have my own opinions on what’s been happening without having to preface it with “as far as I understand the shitty plot Moffat’s concocted...” Plus a search for clips that might be repurposed into an Eleven misses Rose type vid.

But for now, ( as far as I understand DW 7x03 )

Okay, so there’s a few updates on some of my ongoing projects (if people are all that interested) here, but then there’s real life stuff again.

1) I had really good plans of writing this weekend, so far I've come closer to vidding (in that I'm prepping some stuff for future vidding). I can't even blame the muses for this one because they're around, I just can't seem to make myself do anything with them.

2) A quote from my sister "So I watched the first half of Doctor Who season 6; it's really not good." I haven't gotten to season 6 yet myself (I will one day...probably) but that's a further reason not to. Sis isn't even that big a DW fan to begin with and even she's disappointed by s6.

3) I thought I'd check in regarding my Buffy rewatch before I hit the Angelus arc.
