So here’s the deal-io, tomorrow NaNoWriMo starts up again and November is shaping up to be a busy month all around. So, I will post this week’s TV round-up since I’ve been working on it, and maybe I’ll finally post another B5 review since I for some reason have been putting it off (or various small reasons), but there may not be much non-NaNo babble for a while after that.

At least until I concede defeat on NaNo a week or two in, which is what usually happens. I have high hopes for this year, but I don’t know that that means a whole lot. I’ve also been so writer’s blocked for the last couple months I don’t even know why I’m hopeful.

Also Happy Halloween all, not that mine is going to be terribly exciting, maybe I’ll eat more candy than usual while I watch baseball or something.

So, baseball is done for a few months, now the extent of my interest in sport can hibernate for the winter, there's not even the Olympics to break it up. Oh well Royals, I was rooting for you, but you got outplayed in the end, if my Rockies are so disappointing again next year I'll be back to pay attention to you guys again.

And now back to fandom...with some more talk about AoS and the larger MCU.

So to round out the what I've been watching portion of posting, baseball. Then we'll get into my TVD-verse reactions of the week.

I figured I’d put together a report card of the TV shows I watched this year. Wow I watch a lot of TV.

This is, I mostly drop shows if they would grade too low )

So, [livejournal.com profile] wheatear tagged me to answer some questions not related to FMM, and I ended up doing it. I suppose part of the challenge is to tag other people with new questions but I think I have written up enough for the moment. I *may* come back and do that part later, but no promises (or treats).

I do get the most verbose about TV, but I answer some of the deeper questions with thought )

So over the last few days I’ve been marathoning Revenge. On the whole I like it, but I feel like this is probably the right way for me to watch it, it seems like a show that works better as one big story than watching on a week to week basis (with hiatuses).

To celebrate the fact that I finally got all my fanfics posted over on Dreamwidth, how about a fic meme snagged from [livejournal.com profile] turtle_goose

Pick something I have written or vidded and I will write a "DVD commentary" on it.

So yesterday the Rockies traded Ubaldo Jimenez. I honestly didn’t think they’d do it even though I knew it was a possibility. I suppose it always is a possibility, but like I said, I didn’t think it would happen.

Cut for being overly emotional about sports )

So [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 asked:
Five reasons you loved or hated (or were indifferent to) Harry Potter fandom.

Eh hem [/Umbridge]

That’s a pretty loaded question right there. I basically talked about why I never felt comfortable getting too much in to it. And yeah, there's a fair amount of shipping talk.

I HAVE MY COPY OF DANCE WITH DRAGONS. FINALLY.

I want to read it so much, but there's a part of me that wants to enjoy the anticipation just a little longer, knowing that I *could* read it. I mean, one only gets to read it for the first time once.

After everything blew up on [livejournal.com profile] mrv3000’s post yesterday, I’m going to temp fate with my own talk about OTP shipping. But I’m pretty sure a lot fewer people in fandom know who I am so we’ll if the wankers find me.

Onward and stuffward )

In case any of you were wondering I've basically been sick for the last two weeks now. I hate being sick which is why I'm glad I don't get that way very often but when I do I always seem to get like the plague to make up for it. I mean, my parents have had the same crap (at least in theory) but they didn't skip more than a couple days of work last week when the symptoms were worse; me, I guess I'm better in a lot of ways but I've been essentially mute for the last four days now; even if I had a job that would make it pretty difficult to get anything done.

I can't tell if the fact that I'm still coughing a fair bit is connected to the fact that I can't talk above a whisper. Seems logical they would be connected, but while enough meds will keep the cough under control my voice has just gone and fled the scene.

Anyway...I guess keep me entertained f-list, make me feel like I won't be sick forever with this crap.

They've started playing evening/night ball at the softball field near my house. As a kid that always used to annoy me because they played until after my bedtime and the lights and noise kept me up. Now it at most means I need to keep the music going if I'm not watching something at night.

And that I WANT BASEBALL. I only miss the Olympics being on because now I'm in a lull between sports in the evenings. We're still a bit under three weeks from the season though. I want to watch my boys again.

Also I haven't said anything about the last couple movies I've seen:
Alice in Wonderland and Shutter Island )

[livejournal.com profile] shinyopals was talking yesterday about how to successfully convert someone to Doctor Who and it got me thinking about a few things. Like how I would like to be converted to a new show, and how to convert other people. And the difference between where I think one should start watching a show and episodes that really pulled me in.

For now we’ll just do Doctor Who, but I might decide to do some more later.

Okay, so I thought I'd settle for my bullet points reaction post, but it turns out I had more to say on the subjects of "Bad Blood"
And most of it's fairly positive )

Since I doubt this is just me, I thought I'd pose it as a discussion question.

What ships do you guys have that when another ship, which you may or may not have an opinion on is compared to it, your feelings on the subject alter.

TND review

I've read very few of my f-list's reactions to The Next Doctor so far so my reactions are still fairly fresh from that, but it took me a while to work out any real thoughts on it (okay so only a few hours and I slept for some of it; but still, it wasn't immediate).

TND spoilers, plus general behind the scenes spoilers )
jedi_of_urth: (Default)
So I've moved on to rewatching Ugly Betty (just season 1 & 2, 3 is still pretty fresh) so, thoughts of rewatching.
