five tops

So, a_white_rain asked for my top five Doctor Who episodes, and Torchwood episodes (over here), both of which are going to be difficult but for different reasons, I love Doctor Who just SO MUCH and I’m not actually all that familiar with Torchwood, but let’s see if I can do this. These are completely subject to change depending on mood.


Doctor Who
5. Human Nature/Family of Blood
4. The Runaway Bride
3. Army of Ghosts/Doomsday
2. The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit
1. Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways
Honorable mention to TEC/TDD, TCI, Utopia/TSoD (but not LotTL)

So apparently I like angst (I pretty much do) and seeing the Doctor in pain (I don’t but it sort of comes out). I’d write up why I like these episodes but I think most of them would be because they have awesome writing, awesome character moments, and great acting.

Torchwood
I’m going to confine myself to season 1 of Torchwood, I’m not even caught up on season 2 and haven’t seen any of them more than once so don’t feel qualified to make judgments about any of them.

Oh and I forgot to honorable mention the last minute of End of Days, standout of the season.

I ADORED end of days. It had guns! And Owen being angry! And boyskissing.

I think I have blanked a fair portion of End of Days, even then it almost made the top five but there was quite a cluster that wanted that last slot.

You and I have very similar favourite DW eps, even if my top five was fairly different to yours: all of yours are in my top ten!

As for Torchwood, I can't even rate s1 any more now I've seen 2, I prefer it so much that s1 pretty much lies forgotten!

That was part of the reason I didn't include season 2, I knew it was way better than season 1 but I could remember so little about most of the episodes I didn't have any idea how to rank them, so I stuck with season 1 that I have more definite opinions on.

And I doubt my top DW eps are all that uncommon.
