Sound of Drums, pic-recap Part 4

Alright, I finally finished my picture recap, and some closing thought that I'm sure I'll have more of over the next week. So here we go part4.
55. Don’t go calling Jack “girly” Master, you’re not cute enough in my eyes to get away with that (and you’ve already messed with the TARDIS so your adorableness is running a little thin at covering things). Also, you’re revealing you’re not so secret man crush on Jack. I would have loved to see him react to Rose though, but she would so have bitch-slapped him.
56. Laser-screwdriver?

But sonic is everything, you can sonic anything, in fact I think this is still a sonic device since it does everything, he just uses it to kill Also, keep your laser away from Jack, yes I know he’ll come back, but you don’t get to hurt my Jack.

Oh and I think it would have been interesting to see that Time Lords can’t stand “facts” a bit more, like having the Master react badly to Jack’s “fact” status, but I don’t think that’s what we’re seeing.
57. Um…Doctor, it’s the Master, since when has he ever listened to the “Just look at what you’re doing,” logic? He *likes* being evil remember?

58. NOOOO, no aging the Doctor. Must have pretty. Not even going to screen cap it at this moment.

Alright so I did get a picture of the Master doing the aging but not old-Doctor.
59. I kind of want them to make out here, but I think I'll save think about why for a whole separate time.

Mostly though, why don’t both Jack and Martha leave? Or just Jack, though actually I can see him not wanting to make it look like he was running (though the Doctor knows, or should know that wouldn’t be the case ever since The Doctor Dances). Maybe it’s that he can’t die so he thinks he can act to save the Doctor but Martha needs to get out of there before the Master does something to her that she can’t survive? But Jack has a lot better chance of hunting out a way to fight this so I’m a bit confused.
60. Not even going to speculate on why knowing the truth about the Toclafame would break the Doctor’s hearts.

Well…I’m really going to try and avoid speculating about that, because when the Master knows that and doesn’t even tell the Doctor I’ve got to worry. And that the Master seemed rather inclined to make the Doctor ask *who* they are as opposed to ‘what’.
61. Alright, I honestly laughed at the music selection. I was like “This is *so* not Murray Gold’s music” and come to find out it’s not. And it turns out the Master’s actually playing the music, so you just know he’s been planning this for ages to have the perfect background music for the end of the world.

62. Yes the Master and Lucy as still far too cute even it they are totally evil. Have a couple pictures of them.

63. Does the voice in the background shouting about how their being killed sound rather like Mickey to anyone else? It’s probably just the accent right?
64. Damn it Jack, why don’t you go with her? Does she even know how to work the Vortex Manipulator?

I hope they answer that reason next week because it is bugging me.
65. Also, I’m sorry Murray Gold, I didn't even notice this until my final pass through for pictures, but you do *not* get to remix Doomsday music here. Martha teleporting away is not one one-thousandth as sad as the blasted wall scene that I AM NEVER GETTING OVER (unless of course you’re signaling Rose coming back through the Void, then the music is perfect).

(I think the Doctor hears the Doomsday music and is sad about it, he looks sad.)
66. Why do none of the Toclafame kill Martha? Everything else is under attack but she has this nice bubble around her.

Alright, *maybe* it has to do with the perception filer that I think she still has, but literally everything around her is scorched except the part where she landed.
67. Lucy has no concept of personal space around the Doctor either does she?

Of course neither does the Master, but I think we already suspected that.
68. DT’s old makeup is not only good for nothing in that it hides the pretty, it also seems to be seriously hampering his acting. This had better be resolved early next episode.
69. I worry that next week will be “Martha’s story” and I don’t want that. Yes I want her to have more character and I don’t mind if she kicks ass in the finale (she will never be as bad ass cute as Rose standing up to the Cult of Skaro), but the whole season has been the Doctor’s story, and this is his enemy. Yes he needs the help of his companions (that’s always a good message) but it would not be right to have the Doctor and Jack sit and wait for Martha to save the day. Even though obviously Rose is the one who finally saves the day in PotW, we weren’t exclusively following her story to that point, and that’s what I’m worried next week will be, just to try and convince us that Martha actually is useful and worthy etc. Now if it had been Martha and Jack, I could have watched them running around trying to save the day I think, there could be big discussions going on with the Doctor and the Master and the action could be Jack and Martha and Torchwood, but with the groups as they are…nope won’t be interested in Martha getting all the action.
70. I also worry about poor adorable Lucy because I can’t see them keeping her character around but if the Master lives I really want them to still be together. I also think it would tick the Doctor off even more if the Master got to keep his human companion. My hope is that the Doctor saves her, says that even the Master doesn’t deserve to loose someone he loves. Don’t expect that’ll happen, but it would be nice to continue the ‘Doctor gets to save people who remind him of Rose’ angle from EotD (sure she’s evil, but she’s obviously Evil-Rose). Of course this is me choosing to think that the Saxons actually do love each other and that it won’t turn out that the Master kills her himself.
71. What odds would people give the Master of surviving? In some form or another (escape, turned human, disappeared and presumed dead like all super-villains so that he can return later, etc.)? I’d put ‘some form’ at 50/50 for now, maybe a bit higher just because well…the Master always survives right? I want him to survive I think. I want him and Lucy to survive and have crazy dinner parties with the Doctor and Rose.
72. I want Rose back, I want Jack to stay, yes those two things have not been mentioned enough in this recap so I’m saying them again. I want Rose mentions in the finale if not Rose herself but what I want is Billie Piper back on my TV screen.
73. Don’t leave Jack, never leave, I like Torchwood and all, and I’ll miss Ianto and Tosh, but I want you on the TARDIS.
74. Rose, come home, they ripped open the fabric of reality and everything. Just…come home.
Also, *if* I do one of these next week (and damn if I didn't turn this into a much bigger project than it started as) maybe I'll have sorted out a better way of doing it. I do think I'm now less likely to go back and do previous episodes than I thought I was.

I am so with you there. She just does not interest me at all. We've had virtually zero development all series for her, now we're supposed to jump for joy now she's gotten her act together? Meh. I'll pass, thanks.

Bwah! It's very time consuming isn't it? Hee! I haven't had one that's taken less than a day and a half to put together. Although, I've gotten into a pretty good routine, so although they are getting much longer as the season comes to an end, they don't take much more time to do than when I first started.

The problem is only heightened by the fact that I care about Jack about 100 times more than I care about Martha. And I think Martha's story would have been well served by the action side of the finale being her, Jack, and Torchwood. She could see that there's more to the Doctor's world than traveling with a hot guy through time and space and Jack could teach her that (along with knowing how rare it is for the Doctor to really *love* his companions). And seeing the TW team and whatever others they bring into it would show her that the Doctor isn't the only one that can save the world but normal people can too. I just don't buy her getting to that point on her own at this point, and I'm way more interested in seeing the Doctor and Jack and the Master (and even Lucy) in the finale rather than her maybe working that out.
I really shouldn't be hating the companion this late in the season should I? But I got here through the course of the season so it's their own fault, at first I just disliked her for being not-Rose, but now I just hate her.
