As far as I understood it

So I didn’t do one of these last week, so this is kind of for both of them.
DW 7x04 and 7x05
-Apparently last week’s was good. But it was also apparently written by Cibbers so I’m starting to think y’all have some kind of Stockholm Syndrome with Moff Who.
-But I’ve seen less of that this week. Apparently Amy and Rory left in a way that may have been sad bad but was so riddled with all of Moff’s favorite clichés that it’s hard to tell if it was actually effective.
-Seems Amy and Rory are the most screwed over companions since Alaric died, though at least he died heroically and their exit was just kind of...blah. (This also doesn’t including counting River since she got pretty screwed over by the story too.)
-Speaking of which, apparently River was back; I thought she had been sent off at the end of s6 or maybe that was just the impression I wanted to get from what I read. And no one is real confident we’ve seen the last of her now that her parents have left the show.
-I hear last week had some nonsense about Eleven having imprinted on Amy since she was the first person he met post regeneration. I don’t like this because a) Twilight has ruined the word imprinting, b) I’m pretty sure Moff is continuing his quest to devalue Doctor/Rose because b1) that would imply that the only reason Ten held on to Rose so tightly was that he imprinted on her and b2) it misses the point, Ten was the way he was because the Doctor (Nine or Ten however you want to think he approached it) wanted to be someone that fit with Rose. Not having watched it I have nothing to say on how it was presented but in concept I dislike it.
If it was done in way that basically is Eleven trying to put things in a certain context for Amy’s sake but basically just trying to say ‘I don’t want you to go because I’ll miss you’ and the details of what he says aren’t the point I might be able to handle it, but I make no promises. And rom the sound of it I’m not going to like it.
-Honestly I think Moffat has a much higher opinion of the Weeping Angels than I do. There’s a reason the Daleks and Cybermen have lasted as long as they have, but since Moff has done so much to screw up the Daleks I guess it translates that he’d think his creation that lacks the enduring quality of the classic villains in fact have that quality. I’m not even objecting to him reusing them, RTD kept using the Raxocoricophalipatorians and it’s not as it they had a ton of staying power but since RTD GOT the other stuff it felt less like he was trying to elevate his own creation above the show’s legacy than I feel with Moff.
-There’s been more massive time skipping going on because Moff has no desire to tell a consistent story.
-Whether I picked it up from you lot of I’m really just that bitter about Moffat I’m not sure, but I seem to have gotten the impression that I’d be spiteful towards him if I was watching.

Probably. Like I said, I watch it as if it's a completely different (and far worse) show than RTD's Doctor Who. That seems to work oddly well. He can't ruin something he can't touch. But it still drives me crazy most of the time.
I guess some people would say I hate-watch Doctor Who now, but, really, I watch it for the times it's actually good. It is far better than it was last season.

Date: 2012-10-01 06:08 am (UTC)River doesn't just ruin it for me on Rose's behalf, she just ticks SO MANY of my character dislike traits. AND knowing her end from the god awful Library eps makes it even more difficult to care because even when I truly deeply hated her character I hated that she got such a crappy ending even more.

In all honesty for all my hatred of JE, THAT argument has always made me feel a little better. Not that I've forgiven RTD for it, but if he was to come out and say "I left Rose in Pete's World so Steve couldn't touch her" it would go a long way in helping me get there.

Same here. As a character, she just drives me completely crazy. And she ruins every episode she's in by just being so horrible.
