The thing I miss most from when fandom was a more active thing, is memes. Mostly fandom memes, but also friending memes, kink memes, challenge memes; all the stuff that circled around and knit the community together. I went back through my lj archives and found a few fandom memes I wouldn't mind resurrecting. But I'm also going to challenge others to do the same thing, since we come from a lot of different fandoms we probably had different memes that made the rounds. So you can reply challenging me do answer these and/or link to your own; or you can answer some of them here with your fandom of choice

My het OTP: John/Delenn, no contest
My slash OTP: I have a soft spot for Sinclair/Garibaldi
My femslash OTP: I could say Susan/Talia but I don't really ship them. So I have, just this moment, decided that Lockley/Hobbs would be cute together
My endgame OTP: might as well stick with John/Delenn
My original OTP: also John/Delenn
My crack OTP: I wouldn't be opposed to some Corwin/Ivanova or Corwin/Lockley just to see how it goes
My guilty pleasure OTP: going to Crusade here, but I have thoughts on Gideon/Galen/Dureena

This is one that feels very natural to the canon! (though I myself don't like Sinclair enough to be interested in shipping him with anyone, alas)

The Corwin/Ivanova moments were very cute, and the good making for a crack OTP.

And, LOL, very wise re: Cartagia ships!

This is a very wise statement! (I think the last time I did this meme for B5, my answer was Morden :)

I think G'Kar would be my "vote for president" pick, too, and agreed with you about Ivanova as buddy movie partner, crush on Marcus, and Byron for the volcano choice, heh. Na'Toth might not have occurred to me for the "trust with keys" question, but she's an excellent pick!

And you're right, nobody in the cast seems to be a tech person really, which is a little odd. Hmm, I guess Lennier did fix up that antique motorcycle of Garibaldi's, so might be a good candidate for fixing centuries-old tech?

-I ship Sinclair/Catharine, but mostly because of TDITCOS; and I don't think Garibaldi/Sinclair are into each other exactly, but they definitely love each other in a way that I'm sometimes interested seeing it read romantically.

I think G'Kar would be my "vote for president" pick, too, and agreed with you about Ivanova as buddy movie partner, crush on Marcus, and Byron for the volcano choice

I don't suppose any of those are going to be very controversial.

Yep, I know what you mean about that -- I'm the same way about this kind of relationship being read as shippy (but it doesn't have to be).

The aides do all deserve to have nice things like a cupcake party! But Vir definitely deserves it MOST.

3) Jaime Lannister

How I feel about this character: I like him a lot

My unpopular opinion about this character: not necessarily an unpopular opinion, but perhaps an uncommon take; that my take on the character has always been informed by the fact that on my first read I always assumed that 'Kingslayer' was a compliment and Ned was overreacting to what happened when Aerys died. Yes he is also having sex with his twin sister and pushes kids out the window, but I never saw him as cut and dry villain. So I was not exactly surprised when we got the full backstory, it just confirmed what had always suspected.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: for Jaime to deny Cersei and be able to live with himself afterward

My het ship: Jaime/Brienne

My fem/slash ship: I don't know that I can think of, but then Jaime is one of the most monogamous characters in the series, maybe Jaime/Jorah? (but I'd have to picture it as show Jorah instead of book Jorah)

My OTP: Jaime/Brienne

My OT3: I'm sure Jaime would be into Jaime/Cersei/Brienne

My non-romantic OTP: Jaime-Tyrion

My anti-ship: Jaime/any of the brave companions...I haven't really thought about it

A headcanon fact: Jaime has had such single target sexuality all his life that the idea of being attracted to anyone but Cersei is straight up confusing to him (and he really didn't understand Robert)

A scene/moment that sums up this character: I mean, that's basically the point of the bath scene

An idea I have for the character that I haven't written: since I've never really written anything for him (or ASOIAF in general)...Jaime's thoughts after he burns the letter seems like a place I would start

Oh, interesting! (I mean, I personally was not worked up about the Kingslaying even before we started getting details about Aerys. But I don't remember what I thought it meant in-universe on first read anymore...)

Heh, we did end up with some rather divergent Jorahs, didn't we. (For me, the Jaime slash OTP is Jaime/Loras.)

He sure would!

Agreed with you on the platonic OTP with Tyrion and Jaime's single target sexuality. And while I don't actively ship Jaime/Brienne in the sense that I don't search out fic for it or spend much time thinking about it from a meta perspective, it is clearly a very well done and interesting relationship in canon, and one that I happily consume fanworks for when I come across them (especially as they tend to be very good).

As I went back and forth trying to decide if my history with how to read Jaime's character was a just opinion or an unpopular opinion, I started connecting it with an actual unpopular opinion of mine. I prefer Jon to be Ned's kid, and tend to perceive people who insist R+L=J has to be the thing as if it's because Ned was too honorable for it to be him. But I always saw Ned as flawed, so I never saw reason to doubt he was also Jon's father; and his view of Jaime is part of why I saw flaws early.

Jaime/Loras doesn't feel right for me (though, as stated I kind of had to invent something on the fly), it would kind of be just another narcissism based thing, and I'm hoping Jaime gets out of that cycle.

And I also kind of think if Jaime actually thought for a second about the idea of having a threesome with Cersei and Brienne, he'd quickly realize it would be a bad idea (especially post SoS as he realized how awful Cersei is). It might be something to consider if Brienne was more conventionally attractive, but as is, Cersei wouldn't have interest in Brienne (where Brienne would be an extra part of what is focused on Jaime/Cersei), and Cersei doesn't share Jaime. And Cersei would just be terrible to Brienne, and that would make Jaime bad.

Also, I kind of love that icon.

I suspect "Jon should be Ned's kid" IS an unpopular opinion, yes! :) (I don't have any strong feelings about the Starks, except for wanting the suriving Stark kids, especially Sansa, to end up in a safe and relatively happy situation after all they've been through. But I definitely don't want any secret Targaryens -- or non-secret ones, for that matter -- on the throne at the end, so anything that makes that possibility more remote is fine by me.)

Oh, it totally would be! And it's definitely much less of a character growth ship for him than Brienne, but I actually like the mirroring. Well, and two cocky assholes paired together, in general.

Wholeheartedly agreed! I could see it as a thing that, IDK, he sees in a dream or something, and his first thought is "hot!" but that quickly changes to "baaad idea" as soon as he considers it in any sort of 'real life' context.

Hey, someone who shares my anit-Targ bias. And yeah, that definitely also contributes to my dislike for R+L=J. I stopped watching the show after s5 and have just been sitting on the sidelines with popcorn for a while, but watching people bitch about how R+L=J meant nothing has me shrugging and nodding. I hope that's something they got from George (actually I hope it's not even a true thing and this is the greatest con in history). In fact there are a lot of things in the last season that I kind of think might come from George, just with better writing than the show gave those points (like the war against the Others not being the final conflict, I picture Martin showing the fallout of alliances of convenience and for conflicts of interests to arise among forces who came together to fight a bigger threat. Kind of B5 season 5, showing the consequences of these mythic wars).

Also, while I'm not 100% opposed to Jon ending up on the throne (secret Targ or not) I mostly picture him sitting there with a clueless expression on his face until he and Ghost just peace out some day.

1) X-Men, and I think I'll stick with the movies, I could pull in WatX since I reviewed that recently, but movies are easier (though I haven't seen Dark Phoenix or New Mutants)

My endgame OTP: I'd going to throw back Jean/Scott, I assume in the timeline rewrite they just had a long happy life together
My original OTP: Logan/Rogue, I still ship it, but this seemed the place to put it
My crack OTP: DoFP Logan/70s-Charles
My guilty pleasure OTP: Charles/Raven/Erik
My anti-OTP: Logan/Jean, also from WatX Scott/Emma


I don't know that I have strong enough feelings on characters to do #2 off the top of my head.



3) I'll take RTD Doctor, with maybe a little of what I know outside of it

How I feel about this character: I like him, but he frustrates me

My unpopular opinion about this character: I never respected the 'wither and die' issues. Others may find it a compelling reason, but I don't.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I hope Cloen and Rose are still out there having amazing adventures in their TARDIS, and maybe one day the two universes will meet up again

My het ship: Doctor/Rose

My fem/slash ship: Doctor/Master

My OTP: Doctor/Rose

My OT3: Doctor/Rose/Jack

My non-romantic OTP: Doctor-Donna, though also Doctor-everyone in the TARDIS at the end of Journey's End

My anti-ship: Ten/River; maybe later Doctors work better with her, but with Ten it was creepy and bad and wrong.

A headcanon fact: Rose took time to fully warm up to Cloen and trust that he wouldn't leave her behind too.

A scene/moment that sums up this character: I Think RTD did a really good job in Nine's first couple episodes of introducing him; the turn of the Earth speech and the close of EotW

An idea I have for the character that I haven't written: I had huge ideas for an alternate season after s4 (and I did actually write a couple drabbles around the idea). Cloen ended up dying (possibly forgetting he wouldn't regenerate), and Rose found that he dimensional canon that Cloen had kept working for just such an occasion and goes back to Ten. They find a way to help Donna and the three of them get to have adventures for years and years to come. Ten actually gets to a happy ending.
