FMM, and other things

So we're at day 4 of FMM, so another day of my thoughts on the subject.
Contest: Abed Nadir (Community) vs. Leslie Knope (Parks and Recreation)
My Prediction: Leslie because I think there will be plenty of people who don’t want to see Community win again
My Pick/vote: Abed, because I can’t vote against Abed
Comments: This is exactly the contest I predicted we’d have here, could get interesting
Contest: Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) vs. Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)
My Prediction: Hermione, because again, Harry Potter
My Pick/vote: Hermione, because, well, Hermione
Comments: I’m not sure what it says that both these characters are book/movie characters rather than TV ones.
Contest: Donna Noble (Doctor Who) vs. Sansa Stark (Game of Thrones)
My Prediction: Donna, but then I didn’t think Sansa would make it this far
My Pick/vote: Sansa I guess, that could change (though I haven’t been going back and changing things much); really both of them have about outlasted my drive to vote for them.
Comments: I think we covered it.
Contest: John Watson (Sherlock) vs. Mary Crawley (Downton Abbey)
My Prediction: I think Mary will be the one to finally beat Watson
My Pick/vote: Mary, for Not-a-Moffat-character and bracket reasons
Comments: I’m kind of ready for this this to be over actually.
But you know what I *do* still care about? TVD and Community will be back in TWO DAYS, this makes me happy. I kind of forgot my idea of doing some flashback TVD ep reviews, oh well there's always summer hiatus. I've had so many fic ideas it's not even funny anymore. I think I need to rewatch the last few episodes just to get my head out of fic land and back into canon.
I have also tried reading the first book of The Vampire Diaries. I think the only way to read it is for the lulz, because it's really bad. I know if one only took the first few episodes of TVD they might say the same thing so it may not be fair to judge the first half the first book but...it's what I think a lot of us *expected* the show to be. I may end up tempted to write crack fic about book characters meeting their show counterparts because it should provide even more funny that way.

Date: 2012-03-13 06:20 pm (UTC)They are worth reading for the lols but tbh only get WORSE as the series goes along rather than better. What's amazing is how Julie and Kevin managed to take those books and do something good with them.
