So my goal to have reread ASOIAF 1-4 before Dance With Dragons comes out has not worked. Even though it looks like mine is still a couple days away I’m not even through rereading GoT yet. That’s several thousand words left before I’ve reread everything PLUS the thousand or so of the next book. So basically I think I’ll finish GoT and just go on memory for the rest (which I know is spotty because there’s a lot to keep track of) because once I have Dance in my hands I’m not going to be able to resist it (actually I *may* be able to keep my hands off it for a few days but I can’t swear to it).

It may be interesting to try and document my thoughts as I read but I’m not going to commit to it. I’m as unlikely to do it if I say I will as if I say nothing, which is a poorly constructed sentence that I don’t feel like editing.

What I can give you though is some babble about my predictions/hopes for the series.

1) For Jon’s parents to be Ned/random whore (or Wyla which is close enough) and for that to be the end of it. I actually think that’s more powerful for his story than all the theories people have come up with.

1a) I R+L=J HAS to be true I want it to have been capture and rape I’m sick to death of people romanticizing fucking Rhaegar. I was there in Robert’s dreams every night cheering him on as he smashed the asshat.

2) I want Dany’s story to actually be interesting this time and for me not to feel like strangling her during her chapters. I will never want her to actually rule Westeros, but I’d like to like her as a character again. When I like character I want them to be happy even if I don’t want them to get what they think would make them happy, right now I just don’t care about Dany.

3) Gods help me, I am looking forward to Bran chapters, because I think his story has the potential to be awesome.

4) I’d *like* for someone to shove Mel off the Wall, I know it won’t happen, but I can hope.

5) I predict that while I will miss Arya, Jaime, Sam, and Breinne chapters (and to a lesser extent Sansa and Cersei ones), I won’t mind so much once I actually get into the book. I will not miss the Martell or Greyjoy chapters as they (particularly the Greyjoy ones) are the only times I’ve been outright bored by the series. Important, probably. Interesting, not so much.

6) I predict a prolog character will die.

7) We will get an answer to what happened to Davos, but it will be something unexpected.

8) I want to see more of Rickon and Osha, I’m not sure how it could connect with the rest of the story but I miss feral!baby!Stark.

9) More Zombie-Cat! I want to see where that goes. But I may have to wait until the next book.

10) I predict the book will be intense and surprising, and I probably shouldn’t spend too much time on predictions and get back to my reread.

Most of all, I don’t want such a huge wait for the next one.
