Update

So back from traveling, but we had people over last night so I *still* haven't seen the Doctor Who Christmas special and by the time they left I was tired and didn't think that was a great time to be watching a new (but one of the last) episodes) of DW and my room sucks for watching TV in the daylight so now I have to wait until tonight. If I weren't going out of town for New Years maybe I'd just wait and watch them both at that point but it looks like I am going out of town for New Year's so yeah.

Had lots of fun with family, had considerably less fun with the weather and the hours in the car, ate *way* too much, have lots of new clothes (I'm tempted to take and upload a picture of my new shoes next to the pair they're replacing so you all can understand how badly I needed new shoes). Have no idea if the Doctor Who novel my sister got me will be we'll see.

Got very little writing done for my current project and the hours of listening to music in the car didn't actually give me that many vid ideas sadly (a few but there have been times I've come back from the trip with vid ideas for like 20 songs, this time only maybe 5).

I'm skimming my f-list, but avoiding any potential spoilers for DW, maybe tomorrow I'll skim it again for that.

I have actually been, at random bursts, trying to work out the kinks in making Pete's World = Stargate world. I'm only having trouble in that I'm wondering where the hell SGC was when the Cybermen were taking over the world???

Also. Communist Britain.

Sam is such a shippable character. Why is she so easily shippable with almost everyone we have ever heard of?

Well some of these I can do.

The Stargate movie hadn't happened yet at the time of the Cybermen, in fact the jump in importance of the project happened because of the Cybermen. Also they killed Charlie, Jack still gets to be broken by it, still kind of blames himself for Charlie being taken and killed by them but it's a slightly different story.

Timeline-wise it goes something like this (all times approximate)
0 -Lumic attempts to take over the world, is thwarted by DW characters
+1y - Stargate movie happens while Torchwood is still battling the remnants of the Cybermen
+3y - Cybermen take off for DW-Prime world through the Void, Doomsday happens
+3.5y - Bad Wolf Bay scenes and Children of the Gods happen in one order or the other with a couple months between them, but nearish in time.
+5y - Torchwood spies find out about the Stargate program and the AU-mirror
+5.5y - Rose and team let into the SGC

The British Republic and the American Alliance are not friends really, the relationship is a lot more strained in PW than it in in the DW prime verse (or real world), which is why Jack doesn't really trust them at the start. It's really more of a deal between the SGC and Torchwood than it is overcoming any of the conflicts between the nations.

Seriously, when I say I've put *way* too much thought into this little AU of mine I mean it.

Sam is *such* a shippable character, I don't even know why, but she totally is.

Thor seems so fond of Jack and Sam that I thought I'd include them as crack ships; it's weird that he doesn't seem to have the same affection for Daniel in my eyes...hmmm.

Ohh, okay, so you alter the Stargate universe, too. It was becoming really difficult for me to get my head around because I was trying not to change anything more about the Stargate universe than I had to to get it to go anywhere.

Maybe the reason that Thor doesn't seem to have any affection for Daniel is what happens when there is actor conflict. In this case, it's Michael Shanks vs. Michael Shanks actor conflict, and Michael Shanks as Thor is pissed off that Michael Shanks as Daniel is better at all endowed.

Yeah, cause there are somethings about the Stargate verse that don't work with Pete's World as we know it and while the core of the characters stay and most of the plots still stand (in essence at least) it takes some...stitching to get the two universes to work together especially when one of them clearly isn't "our" world.

Also, in keeping with the hugeness of this whole project, I like thinking about the ways AUs are different, I've been known to do it in other stories too, but here's it's the ways it being in PW effects the Stargate story as we see it.

Could be the dual Shanks factor, hadn't thought of that but it kind of makes sense. He's probably got a hard time maintaining chemistry with himself, especially when one him is a puppet. And I wouldn't say Thor doesn't seem to respect Daniel, just that it's not as...flowy as with the others.

Well, we all know about Daniel's chemistry with Jack. That said, I can understand how it'd be difficult as an actor. It's trying to respond to something that isn't there except in one's own head, rather than playing off hearing something else.

So hey, I was wondering if you would mind me using some of the things you worked out in my own version of the same AU for my own writing purposes. You've made me really inspired to do so, and I still say that you and I should start a comm where we can at least put both our works toward this particular subject. We talked about it once, remember?

Also, it just... made me think, since you replied on here last night but weren't on AIM--thought I'd check to make sure you were okay and such.
