"North and South"

So over the weekend I got the chance to watch "North and South" and my thoughts boiled down to two catagories
1. That's pretty good, how I managed to ignore this for so long? It's a good story, well done, very well acted and all kinds of good stuff.
2. Oh My God, Richard Armitage is sexy! Not that I didn't already know that but DAMN, not all men can look sexy wearing a ridiculously sized bow tie and he is ridiculously hot even with it.
-While I'm on the subject, RA seriously needs to play parts where he smiles more because when he does he just gets *more* gorgeous. He does gorgeous brooding so very well, but then when he gets to turn it around and look really really happy...melt.
-There were an awful lot of characters to keep track of in the story, but while I was watching it I had no trouble, now I can't remember half of the main character's names and it's only been a few hours but that often happens to me. I'll get them on an eventual rewatch.
-There was also a pretty high body count, but I suspect that was kind of the point, to show how bleak/traumatic life was and stuff.
-I think I'm going to need to do a rewatch just to get a better handle on some of the character motivations, mostly when it came to the love story, which while it mostly worked I could stand to get a better handle on the character traits involved.
-Once again, it should be said the RA is very very sexy, I should make screen caps of the sexy (and his ridiculous ties) eventually.

I love him as John Thorton, but I must admit my complete downfall with him was his Guy hair this season. It demanded to be played with. Of course it has to fight the Tennant hair and really, I think we're all winners in that battle.

Date: 2008-01-08 05:02 am (UTC)I haven't decided if I love him as Thornton or Guy more. The thing about Guy is I don't know *why* I even like him much less love him because I usually am the least attracted-to-bad-boy-characters person ever and it's not a matter of sexiness that overcomes it (although it doesn't hurt I admit). Actually that's probably what's tripping me up here, I mean Guy is in general more sexy probably, but here John provides a lot more sweetness which I find more dead sexy than leather (there's probably also a hint there that I really only started to even really appriciate Guy's sexiness this season when his character got more complex and had moments of goodness).
Clings to non-finale-Guy; and pities finale Guy since the writers did a 180 on his character development.
But yes the fangirls are the real winners of sexy-off battles. Tennant and Armitage need to star in something together ASAP.
