Shipping meme day 27

So I’ve been kind of distracted for a few days but okay, let’s try and finish this off.
Day 27: Another couple you shipped a long time ago
Another part of the delay was that I wanted to think of something to say for this one that I haven’t already touched on. I’ve talked about a lot of long term ships I’ve had, because I tend not to so much stop shipping something as just lose interest in the fandom or possibly just the ship. And while my shipping tastes can change over time, so there are some ships I’m not as in to or find less appealing now even when I drift back into a fandom, I wasn’t really sure what to answer to this.
But I did finally decide that, in part in keeping with the question, I might want to talk Star Wars. I do not remember a time in my life when I didn’t know the Star Wars movies (well, the original ones anyway) and when I was young I definitely liked Han/Leia because I didn’t really question canon shipping when I was young, and why would I? But when I look at it now I think, if I saw it for the first time as an adult with my developed attitudes towards ships, I would not have approved of the series going that way. I would have called foul because Luke and Leia being twins was clearly pulled out of Lucas’s ass when they were a much better shipping choice.
The thing is, I’ve never cared about Han in these movies the way I do about Luke and Leia, even as a kid and not thinking about it I have never had a thing for bad boys. But as a kid I went along with it because I didn’t have a reason not to, and it seemed like a happy enough ending. So I kind of shipped it for Leia’s sake and because kid-me didn’t consciously call bullshit on the way the series went. Making Han/Leia a ship I shipped a long time ago (in a fannish mindset far away).
