The Originals reaction bullet points

I liked this episode a lot, but I’m not sure I liked it as much as some of the others.
The Originals 1x06
-Seriously Sofie, I could hear plain as day in what Elijah said that either he probably intended to kill Agnes or at minimum not lift a finger to stop Kieran from doing it. He’d stop Klaus sure, but he sure as hell didn’t say he was going to make sure she lived, and this is Elijah, you have to hear what he doesn’t promise you. (Elena does.)
-I wish the show had established the NO Council before this point so their deaths would have had some weight.
-I’m of two minds about Elijah’s rampage. On one hand, I’d super glad the show didn’t turn Elijah “good” in the name of needing a “good brother” character. He has his honor, but that isn’t by definition “good” (or “moral” Esther); he’s just as dangerous as the others, maybe even more so because he only lets it out in bursts. But on the other hand, we’ve never seen Elijah kill humans before (vampires, werewolves, hybrids, it’s a heart ripping good time, but killing humans is new to the show showing) so it might have been done with a little more care; since it’s not clear why he went for the others in this burst of ire. I’m not saying it’s OOC, just a stretch I would have liked more insight into.
-But yes Klaus, this is why Elijah’s in charge. All of your plans crumbled around you spectacularly from a lie about where you lived; Elijah’s in charge for a day and he saves Hayley and the baby, disentangles the family from Sofie’s plots while further earning Davina’s trust without her realizing he used her (for now, it’ll probably come out), and for an encore, after convincing you to abide by his honor, kills off the Council most likely with the intent of playing politics to get the next one on your side. He’s the general of your army and you should be so lucky that he doesn’t want to rule more than he wants your...something like redemption.
-I’m pretty sure both Klaus and Rebekah think Elijah’s into Hayley after this episode, but I’m not actually sure what his feelings are there. I’m not sure he knows or wants to know what his feelings are there either so for now I think he’s reserving judgment on feelings but his much quicker to jump to conclusions siblings have their ideas already. (grumble, my general reaction to this ship, grumble)
-The opening to this episode was hysterical, I love the family dynamics scenes. Although Rebekah’s getting a bit Damon-y with worrying over the carpet/furniture. Still that’s one of Damon’s better qualities, or at least more amusing ones so I guess Rebekah can have it too.
-Marcel is so Klaus’s son, the second Rebekah actually starts acting like she’s over him and ready to walk away, he decides he wants her again, or at least to prove that she still wants him.
-It is hysterical that they give Elijah these big statements about how no one messes with his family and I’m like *cough*Finn*cough*Kol*cough*. So basically the only shield for messing with Elijah’s family is to be connected to Elena Gilbert; or to be Elena Gilbert, then not only will you not have your heart ripped out, he’ll continue to make goo-goo eyes at you. Further proof that in Elijah’s mind, Elena is part of the family; always and forever.
-Look I get why Elijah wants to stay in NO rather than leave with Rebekah, and he handled the situation fairly well, assuring her that as far as he’s concerned she’s perfectly free to make her own choices without quite saying that he wishes she would choose to stay. But I do wish we got more of them together, theirs is the family relationship we know the least about and I wish we would.
-It’s shocking how little I care about the Hayley situation. Show, it’s well past time to give Hayley some real development to make me care. Also, I keep forgetting to point this out but it’s been bugging me; Hayley is a werewolf with her werewolf gene activated, we’ve been reminded of that several times. So what does she do during the full moon? Does she run around the plantation or does she/Klaus lock her up in the house? How much control does she have as a wolf? What happens to the baby when she transforms? Maybe there’s plans to answer that down the road, but until it’s addressed it bugs me.
-I am interested in how Cami’s situation is going to play out. I like you Cami, people slapping Klaus for being a murdering asshole is alright by me.

Date: 2013-11-06 10:54 pm (UTC)But yeah, Hayley isn't bothering me, I just don't really care; and I don't outright hate the idea of Elijah/Hayley, I just don't think it's been earned in the show yet but since it's not being overly pushed too badly I'm not doing more than grumbling about it so far. I could be persuaded to do less grumbling (they would ever be my OTP obviously) if Hayley was at all interesting so there was a reason for her to interest Elijah as more than a part of the family.
If it didn't amuse me as an Elejah shipper I'd be pissed on Finn and Kol's behalf (hell I have the shipper view to allow it and it still kind of pisses me off) that Elijah goes on this kind of rampage at a threat to Hayley (and I think a little bit to remind Klaus that his honor is not a weakness) but won't stop making goo-goo eyes at Elena, lets all of her boyfriends continue walking around, and gets pissed off at Katherine over Jeremy's death when the group of them got two members of the family killed.
(I suppose looked at another way there's a particularly Elijah/Hayley reading of that, but I'll stick with mine because...it's mine, duh.)
