And now we come to the end of this little endeavor. Now to put the muses on simmer until NaNo.
To the full table
Prompt: 38. picnic
Fandom, charters/pairings: Babylon 5; John/Delenn, David
Warnings, notes: pre-SiL (post Crusade but no spoilers for it)
Minbar was home now, because when John thought of going home to his wife and son it was on Minbar. But Earth would always be home too, there was nothing quite like lying beneath that familiar sky and letting it be home for a while.
And on occasion he could have it all at once. Lying in the sunny meadow, with Delenn by his side, watching their son play with his cousin’s dog for the afternoon. It might be the last time he ever came here, time was slipping by as it always did, but for today he was happy.
Prompt: 63.
Fandom, charters/pairings: Doctor Who/SG-1 crossover world; the Tylers
Warnings, notes: Could be just DW without SG-1, but it was written with crossover world in mind
The boys were getting a little big to both crowd into the big chair with Rose, but they still wanted to push in next to their big sister. Rose let them do it as she told them adventure stories that she usually didn’t tell them happened to her or people she knew.
Jackie liked seeing her children all nestled together, even with the uncomfortable visual reminder that even her later in life children were growing up. She liked the stories much less; the boys heard the fun versions of the stories Jackie knew to be much more real and frightening.
Prompt: 67.
Fandom, charters/pairings: Farscape; Aeryn, Jack Crichton; slight Aeryn/John
Warnings, notes: set during the Earth arc in s4 so spoilers for that and Human Reaction in s1.
“You ought to come in, we got a storm rolling in,” Jack informed Aeryn from the back door of the house.
Aeryn nodded, she’d noticed the clouds that grew darker as they came nearer. She wasn’t sure how to explain that she was waiting on it; she’d never been through an Earth rain storm in reality, only a simulation so many cycles ago. She was curious how the reality compared, and she supposed she was waiting for a sign from Crichton that the rain might bring.
Over the next hour the clouds passed overhead, and sun returned with no sign.
Prompt: 81. Author's Choice
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; Elijah, Elena; slight Elijah/Katherine; semi Elijah/Elena
Warnings, notes: set pate s4, not compliant with TO 1x01
I’m going to kill your girlfriend, Elena’s text read.
Elijah couldn’t tell from the digital text if she was still lacking emotions or if they were back and she was justifiably angry. He couldn’t make too many assumptions but he had expected her to use anger as a coping strategy to deal with what had happened to her brother, and that she was warning him now implied some feeling.
When he admitted the news did worry him, it wasn’t worry for Katherine. Succeed or fail, neither would help Elena’s heart the way she hoped. So he wrote back: Be careful.
Prompt: 85. Author's Choice
Fandom, charters/pairings: The Office; Jim/Pam
Warnings, notes: Spoilers for the second to last episode
Jim considered tearing up – or at least throwing out – the letter as soon as he backed out of giving it to Pam. But that idea didn’t feel right, he wanted to believe one day he could give it to her, show her how he had always felt about her.
When he was packing up to move to Stamford, he’d thrown that Christmas card in a box without really thinking about it; if he had, he probably would have thrown it out at that point.
He didn’t find it again for years, none too soon before he could finally deliver it.
Prompt: 89. Author's Choice
Fandom, charters/pairings: ASOIAF; Jeyne Poole, Stark girls in passing
Warnings, notes: spoilers for ADWD
Jeyne had never cared for Arya; Sansa had been her friend and therefore Arya an annoyance.
Now, they wanted her to be Arya, which would be hard enough, but they didn’t really want Arya. Arya was half-wild, ill-mannered, poor tempered, underfoot and disobedient, and certainly no lady, or one to accept the role Jeyne must play. They wanted an Arya that was none of that.
The real Arya that Jeyne remembered so colorfully was surely dead by now, and Jeyne did not wish to join her, so she would find a way to be the version of Arya they wanted.
Prompt: 92. Author's Choice
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; Stefan, Caroline, Elena
Warnings, notes: spoilers through 4x15 (maybe a little further)
Stefan and Caroline took turns assuring each other that Elena would get her humanity back sooner rather than later. Sometimes Stefan doubted she’d ever be willing to and sometimes Caroline doubted she even could, but so far they hadn’t both been consumed with doubt at the same time.
They also helped each other through the process of going through the wreckage of the Gilbert house looking for anything they might salvage for that hypothetical day when Elena would want memories of what she’d lost. For now she’d turned it off, and in the ruins of her home they understood why.
Prompt: 93. Author's Choice
Fandom, charters/pairings: Babylon 5; Marcus; Marcus/Susan
Warnings, notes: spoilers through the end of s4, canon character death
Sheridan had said something not long ago about dying being easy; that once you’d made the decision to die for something, seeing it through was the easy part. Marcus had understood what he meant, he’d faced death himself often enough, but it had never seemed so clear as it did now.
There had been many things Marcus would have been willing to die for the last few years, though until now none had ended up demanding that sacrifice; still, he could think of nothing more righteous to die for than love.
Susan, naturally, would wonder later if he’d regretted it.
Prompt: 99. Author's Choice
Fandom, charters/pairings: Doctor Who; Rose; Doctor/Rose
Warnings, notes: post JE, character death, personal headcanon as far as some things go
Rose hadn’t given much thought to what would happen if their new adventures killed the Doctor now that he could really die, at most she had thought it would be years before she had to worry about him dying before her.
But he had thought it, must have always thought it could happen. When he’d encouraged her not to completely junk the dimensional cannon she’d loved that he didn’t need her to completely let go.
Now that she was looking into it again, she found he’d known that if she did lose him, she’d be looking for another way back.
Prompt: 100. Author's Choice
Fandom, charters/pairings: Castle; Kate; Kate/Rick, fandom
Warnings, notes: one spoiler for s6, light fandom mocking
Castle didn’t pay much attention to his fandom, he wasn’t disrespectful but he didn’t engage much. Kate however still had her old accounts on the fansites and would, on occasion, check to see what people there were saying, It could be a little awkward on days when the subject of ‘Kate Beckett the muse’ was being discussed by strangers around the world, and now that was ‘Kate Beckett the real life fiancé.’
Most of the fans were supportive, some were jealous, many claimed they’d known all along (who could read Nikki and Rook and not guess?), and some wrote porn.
