100 Drabbles of Summer 2013: post 4

I'm close to being done, for now another round of finished ones. (And a link to the main table in case you've missed it.)
Prompt: 35. cycle
Fandom, charters/pairings: Doctor Who; Ten; Doctor/Rose
Warnings, notes: Spoilers through EoT2, regeneration angst
If he could find a way to die in her arms he would, but he has to settle for hers being the last face he sees. Maybe he’ll take the image of her with him into the next life, or this love may pass on with him, but he means for her to be his last memory.
His regeneration cycle erupts, and he remembers the life he didn’t lead. Her as his first and last sight every day. A lifetime of her hand in his where she belonged.
In that life, he would have lived and died in her arms.
Prompt: 36. luggage
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; Elena/Elijah
Warnings, notes: AU, not real spoilers
Over several years Elena just got used to every waiter, concierge, or porter (and most people that noticed them in passing) looking at her a gold-digging harlot or Elijah as cradle-robbing scoundrel. Early on she had accepted that that was how they would look to the world that didn’t know what their age difference actually was.
She didn’t notice right away when the looks stopped; when she did realize it, it was hardly the first time things had changed. She looked to Elijah and knew that he had probably noticed as things changed, and that it signaled other changes coming.
Prompt: 37. shout
Fandom, charters/pairings: The Office; Pam; Pam/Jim
Warnings, notes: spoilers for the finale although set during the gap before it
They’re not an hour into the documentary by the time Pam wants to start shouting at the screen, mostly at her younger self. It’s not like she’s forgotten how long it took her to figure things out, but it’s really hard to watch.
While the doc it airing, the office becomes a refuge; they already know the story. Outside, people seem to want to comment on her life now; neighbors, old friends coming out of the woodwork, total strangers who can see what was clear to the cameras years ago.
And she had Jim, because eventually she’d figured it out.
Prompt: 42. clouds
Fandom, charters/pairings: Castle/TVD; Alexis, Jeremy; slight Alexis/Jeremy
Warnings, notes: No real spoilers, angst
Jeremy lay back to watch the clouds roll by overhead, and frowned.
“What are you thinking about?” Alexis asked next to him.
He took a moment before he answered. “I know it sounds cliché, but I want to be a normal kid again. I want to rabbits and dogs when I look at the clouds instead of severed heads and burning bodies.”
Alexis thought one of the clouds looked like her own heart that broke for him and what he’d endured. Jeremy saw the same heart-looking cloud, but his mind saw it as any of those he’d seen ripped out.
Prompt: 44. swim
Fandom, charters/pairings: Doctor Who; Ten, Rose; Doctor/Rose
Warnings, notes: Spoilers for Turn Left and post JE, implied probable suicide
He could swim just fine, he could hold his breath for a disturbingly long time and was just as strong underwater as on dry land.
And yet he was dead, drowned in the Thames. He must have been down there saving the world, but that didn’t explain how he died. And when they found the TARDIS not far from his body it raised more questions.
Later, when they were both safe a few universes removed from that ending, she asked him how it could have happened. He held her tight and reminded her when that day had been for him.
Prompt: 47. crab
Fandom, charters/pairings: Farscape; Aeryn, John; implied Aeryn/John
Warnings, notes: Slight spoilers for s4
Crichton’s language was sometimes a struggle for the translator microbes, and even stranger to learn. He used words like “bitchin’” or “crabby” or “Muppet” like they were words that made sense and then couldn’t explain the meaning either, at least not without other – often equally confusing – words.
It was easier to let the translator microbes do their job and just be confused sometimes; still, Aeryn would not be defeated by this confusing language. But it didn’t seem to have regular rules to go by, or changed much too often; it was as strange as Crichton himself most of the time.
Prompt: 60.
Fandom, charters/pairings: Babylon 5; Delenn
Warnings, notes: s4 Minbari civil war spoilers
The sunset turned the sky the colors of flames, then as night fell the fires in the city became more obvious in the darkness. Inter-caste fighting was costly; aside from large targets at military bases or religious temples most of the fighting took place on small skirmishes in the streets where the castes had lived together for over a thousand years.
Delenn stayed in the Temple, but she did not fight for the Religious Caste. The war had to stop, but if any caste won it would only be the beginning of many wars to come. It must end here.
Prompt: 69.
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; teens ensemble
Warnings, notes: No real spoilers aside from the kids having gone through a ton of crap, canon character deaths referenced in passing
Bonnie had a series of old pictures of them all at the beach when they were kids. Maybe her dad had taken it, or maybe it had been Elena’s mom, but it showed four little girls and two young boys racing along the shore line, or building sand castles, or burying each other. Jeremy and Matt teaming up against their older sisters, until Matt switched to Elena’s team to outdo Caroline while Bonnie tried not to take sides because she just wanted to swim.
They were so young then, unbelievably young it seemed now.
They had been so alive once.
Prompt: 75.
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; Elena/Elijah, past Elijah/Katherine referenced
Warnings, notes: Future fic, no real spoilers
“So if anyone finds us, should I be Elena or Katherine?” Elena asked Elijah with a smile. She didn’t mind Katherine’s place in his past but it was always possible his family would find them hiding out in one of the Originals’ mansions.
“You forget,” he responded lightly “Katherine would never be found like this.”
“Good point,” she replied. “I guess we have to accept I’m not Katherine.”
She may be fishing a bit, but he rose to the bait. “I’ve always preferred that you weren’t.” He pulled her close and kissed her again so she never would doubt it.
Prompt: 83. Author's Choice
Fandom, charters/pairings: Robin Hood; Guy, Tuck sort of
Warnings, notes: spoilers for late s3, part of the Final Testament headcanon
Only now did the priest want to talk. Not months ago when my soul was had needed guidance, not in the weeks when death seemed imminent, only now that I had changed my own fate were my sins and griefs worth his time.
I could credit God with my redemption, He had given me another chance, but the Church and this priest – like so many others I had known – did not care about helping others find salvation. For all God had tested me, He had never abandoned me while the priests did, and had done since I was a child.
