TV round up

Let’s see, things I’ve watched the last few days.
Parks & Rec 6x04
It was...okay. It was definitely fun in places, and touching in places, but it could have done with a little...more. The problem with all the new people was all their stories got crammed into one episode where the April-and-Tinny and the Rons stories could easily have sustained an episode or two. There was so much going on this episode but very little actually happening for most of it.
Glee 5x03
Some kind of morbid curiosity made me watch this episode even though I haven’t watched this show since the end of s3. And it was pretty affective even with that gap. I approve of most of the choices they made with this story considering it was a real life writes the plot situation; and it being that situation had a real impact on the feelings that came through here. I’m hesitant to even call it performances in some cases because there was a definite feeling of the fact and fiction merging together in what we saw. I wish Kurt had gotten a musical number instead of the Artie and Sam one, but the Hudson-Hummel scene was so good and powerful that I guess it makes up for that. And yeah, I may not have exactly cried but I was pretty close all episode.
Korra 2x06
Damned love triangle, didn’t I just say that I wanted the show to be done with love triangles? And amnesia? Really? I’m not going to rail about that too much just yet because it may have something to do with the spirit world rather than just being a result of the attack and I’d be up for seeing how that works out, but if this is soap opera amnesia of a bump on the head...just no. I do have a feeling like this is all to teach Korra a lesson but I’m not sure what, and whether I can handle it or not depend on if it’s to teach her a lesson in character or because the writers had stagnated her so much that they weren’t sure how else to reshape her; the former is...possibly acceptable, the latter is just lazy. All that, and I did quite like a lot of the episode up until that point, didn’t love it but liked it.
OUaT in Wonderland 1x01
I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn’t quite it. I can definitely see myself liking it, and Alice is quite sweet and likable – yet able to kick ass – which is all pretty important. I’m not so sure about the Knave, and I don’t suspect they can sustain CGI rabbit for very long which is probably for the best since he’s kind of annoying. The villains are pretty bland, but it’s a pilot so it’s likely to improve. I think I was expecting something a little more divorced from OUaT the parent show, since now they have the bits of Wonderland Once introduced to have to deal with and worry about how the development of one show reflects on the other as they progress (I mean, if the Rabbit can so easily travel between worlds, how was Jefferson trapped in Wonderland for so long? Where does the Red Queen fit in with Cora as the Queen of Hearts? etc.). It’s off to a decent start, that’s the main thing.
Downton 4x04
That was uncomfortable. Pretty much every plot was uncomfortable in fact. It’s an uncomfortable episode where your plot topics are rape, racism, 1920’s sexual politics, and a grieving widow forced to make snap decisions about her future. When the character that’s the most comforting to be around is Violet I think the episode has won some kind of uncomfortable award (and I might too for my overuse of the word). Also, I suspect that at least one of Anna, Edna, and Edith are going to wind up pregnant coming out of these episodes...and then someone will probably die because it’s Downton and pregnancy leads to death.
OUaT 3x03
That was a very decent episode. I’m not quite sure how I feel about a lot of it, but I thought it was a pretty good story. It probably is as close as we’re going to get to canon femslash , but I guess coming that close was appreciated as I do support Mulan/Aurora, though Mulan/Robin is a crossover ship I’m not opposed to either in theory. I have a hard time thinking Robin/Regina would work now, it might have once, but now I don’t see it working. And why am I talking about ships when there was plenty of other stuff going on? I guess because like the show in general I’m a little unsure how I feel about the ships.
Revenge 3x03
I really feel like this season is working out much better than s2, but I probably ought to rewatch s2 at some point because I really can’t remember where all the pieces ended up at the end of it, primarily the Aiden piece for the life of me I can’t remember how things went on that front. I really don’t make up my mind about this show until I have a lot more information about where the arc is going than I do now, so I’ll just leave it at it seems to be working.
Still haven’t gone back and watched Wednesday’s shows, they may have to wait until baseball is done, sandwiched between the big nights on Tuesday and Thursday. Or maybe I’ll get to them before the next episodes and then keep up, there’s always a chance of that.
Writing update
At less than a week until the drabble challenge is over, I’m at 9 left to write, so I’m in okay shape though I suspect a few will be last minute jobs.
