Okay, another round of drabbles for the 100 drabbles of summer. I'm still working on the list, but I keep hoping getting some of them out there will motivate me. You can follow the progress on my main table if you want to.
Prompt: 20. shade
Fandom, charters/pairings: Doctor Who; Eleven, Rose, Cloen; Doctor/Rose
Warnings, notes: None really
The duplicate wasn’t Time Lord enough to sense his presence, and they wouldn’t recognize him, but the Doctor stuck to the shadows as he watched them. Why had he come? He had no need to torment himself with what he couldn’t have; what he had walked away from.
He finally walked away again.
They had found their way to the life he’d wanted for them, when he chose it for them. He could content himself that that wasn’t a lie he made up to make himself feel better. He could be content.
They were waiting for him at the TARDIS.
Prompt: 27. celebration
Fandom, charters/pairings: Castle/Revenge; Rick-Kate, other mentioned
Warnings, notes: no real spoilers, but it’s a crossover I really want
“Do we have to go?” Kate asked, just shy of whining.
“I never get invited to the Graysons’ parties,” he reminded her.
“I know, but with all the scandal that’s surrounded them the last few years I’m pretty I shouldn’t be going, and neither should you.” Who knew if the next time one of the Graysons was accused of murder it would be in her jurisdiction.
“It’s the Hamptons baby,” he said humorously. As if Kate would allow such things to be the norm anywhere. “At least we can be on hand if anything happens today.”
Conrad Grayson better beware.
Prompt: 53. gasoline
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; Elena, Katherine; Kat/Elijah reference, Elijah/Elena implied
Warnings, notes: set during 4x21
The great thing about not having emotions was that Elena really didn’t care about what they did to her, not even fear that Katherine would do what the boys wouldn’t and legitimately hurt her.
Still, Elena wasn’t inclined to throw fuel on Katherine’s fire by answering the older vampire’s questions about her boyfriend. Katherine assumed there had been more to Elena’s meeting with Elijah, and she was angry. The truth would just piss her off more; that Katherine probably knew everything relevant that had happened but she had miscalculated where she ranked in Elijah’s estimation; she ranked lower than Jeremy.
Prompt: 55. lagoon
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; Elena, Matt; past E/M
Warnings, notes: Spoilers for the end of s3 but nothing past that, somewhat suicidal attitudes
Past the thought of ‘Not again,’ Elena’s clearest thought was the number of times Matt had sat through The Little Mermaid with her when they were kids, and here they were dying at the bottom of the river where it was certainly not better down where it’s wetter.
He’d loved her, even back then, to be that kind of friend. Mom was wrong, there was no way she could ever set him free after all this time, all those memories.
Except maybe by letting Stefan save Matt instead of her. Maybe she could set all of the free that way.
Prompt: 56.
Fandom, charters/pairings: ASOIAF, Arya, Gendry; implied Arya/Gendry
Warnings, notes: Set post-series, but with no real spoilers
No matter how many times Arya had been warned Winterfell was a ruin now, she’d had to come and see it herself. She knew all that had befallen her home in the wars and Winter since she had left and though she was prepared to return.
She wasn’t. And no matter how much control she had learned in her travels, she wanted to visit every broken stone upon those that had done this to her family.
Gendry sought her in the Godswood that evening and reminded her that while she had been taught to kill, he had learned to build.
Prompt: 58.
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; Damon (really); past Damon/Katherine references
Warnings, notes: No spoilers past maybe s1 if you’re really ignorant of the series
When Katherine had taught Damon hunting tricks, they’d been dealing with horses and coaches; lying in wait until someone stopped to investigate the body in the road. As automobiles started to replace horses, Damon had thought to hunt down the manufacturers and put an end to it; but before he could try, there were too many of them to stop. These days a vampire usually had to be willing to take some measure of hit before they could strike back.
Maybe it was more sporting this way, but Damon didn’t care for sporting. He’s learned to like sports cars though.
Prompt: 66.
Fandom, charters/pairings: TVD; Elena, Katherine; Tatia, others mentioned
Warnings, notes: Future-AU with no obvious spoilers, just doppelganger ass-kicking
A trio of sharp-eyed young women perched on the hill overlooking their next target. To the untrained eye they would have appeared to be nearly identical triplets though their births had been separated by centuries. They would never be called friends, but for now they were allied in a war against those that had controlled their fates across a millennium.
Klaus was desiccated and entombed, Rebekah daggered, and they had Elijah on the run. But tonight’s target was different; tonight was not about revenge, it was to make sure Klaus’s last experiment to clone more of them would never succeed.
Prompt: 70.
Fandom, charters/pairings: The Office (US); Jim
Warnings, notes: Post series, but not all that spoilery you couldn’t guess about the show
The documentary had proven popular enough to get them invited to throw out a first pitch at a Phillies game. Jim and Dwight had gone round and round for weeks over which of them would get to do it, but eventually Jim had won out with the instruction that he not blow it.
He’d blown it.
Jim could pitch too, at least usually; but out there on the mound in front of a stadium full of people he’d choked. The ball had fallen short of the plate and wide. There wasn’t going to be any living that down back home.
Prompt: 73.
Fandom, charters/pairings: Robin Hood (2006); Isabella
Warnings, notes: Pre-series, but being about Isabella means spoilers for s3; references to abuse
The first time Isabella tried to leave she was seventeen and terrified, but she believed she would make it. She imagined making it to the city, the coast, back to England; her plan didn’t make it further than that, but it would work, it had to.
She didn’t even make it to the next town. She tried to cut through a pasture where her skirts attracted the attention of a bull, and soon she was running for her life; she managed to outrun the bull but back to her husband.
He made her wish she’d braved the bull’s wrath instead.
Prompt: 80.
Fandom, charters/pairings: The Avengers; mentions of most of the team; Tony/Pepper
Warnings, notes: Surprisingly, this one is just fun
Tony and Bruce played a lot of Rock Band now that they were just advising the Avengers, and the geniuses had taken the time (not that it had taken them long) to modify the game so anyone could play with them if they happened to stop by.
At the game Tony usually played the drums (Thor tried, but he mostly sucked), but for Pepper he learned to play the real guitar. Trying to impress your girlfriend with music may seem juvenile (Natasha certainly would have told him it was), but Tony didn’t care.
Pepper liked it, that was the point.
