Small update and meme time

I know I've been kind of off lj for a bit, I need fall TV to start up I guess - I've been rewatching a lot of Castle thought, kind of decided that was what I most wanted to watch again before new eps started. Korra is back but I didn't have a ton of thoughts on the first episodes and I haven't gotten to watch last night's yet. And I did get to go to a Rockies game a couple days ago to see Helton play one last time, Rockies baseball won't be the same without him next year.

So, the three tiered meme is making the rounds again and I might as well do it too.

1. Doctor Who

My favourite character:
Probably the Doctor (RTD’s Doctor since the line between Nine and Ten isn’t all that big), though Rose is a really close second on her own and a huge parts of why I love RTD’s Doctor.

My least favourite character:
Probably River, because I still feel like Eleven could have been saved by better writing (as shown when RTD wrote him on SJA), but River was basically a lost cause from the start.

Most attractive character:
Really depends on my mood on any given day, today I’m going to say...Martha.

Funniest character:
Not sure...Donna maybe.

A character I would kill off/remove:
Kind of a toss up between Adam and Reinette which I would be happier to forget. I hated Reinette’s episode and would like to pretend it never happened, but Adam just added nothing to the show.

A character I would bring back:
Always Rose, could be the adventures of Rose and Cloen instead of Rose back in the main DW verse at this point, but I’ll take either...as long as Moffat isn’t involved.

5 ships I like:
Doctor/Rose, Doctor/Rose/Jack, occasional Doctor/Master, Amy/Rory I guess, maybe Jackie/Pete in the sense that I’d never break them up in post Doomsday stories.

A random thought:
The fact that I don’t love this show the way I used to makes me sad

An unpopular opinion:
I’ve tried watching Classic Who at a few different points, and it’s okay but I don’t get a whole lot out of it

My canon OTP:
Doctor/Rose

Non-canon OTP:
Toss up whether I prefer hypothetical Jack/Donna or Jack/Sarah Jane

Most badass character:
They’re all pretty badass in their own ways, but I’ll give it to Rose

Pairing I am not a fan of:
Moffat/Show, and pretty much every ship that goes with it.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):
Cloen, I think the end of JE would have worked a lot better if we’d been given better/more idea of how this situation worked and why we should accept him.

Favourite friendship:
Doctor-Donna I guess, although I’d probably throw Wilf in there too

Favourite thing about the canon universe:
The ability to balance between having dark things happen but having hope for a better future, and when they play around with that balance for just fluffy stories or some really dark ones. Also, just how extensive it is where anything can happen.

2 Doctor/Rose

When or if I started shipping it:
“I could save the world but lose you,” also known as: the exact moment I went from ‘not going to play the writers’ game with main character ship teasing’ to ‘OTP FOREVER.’

My thoughts:
These two still *are* DW to me. Seasons 3&4 were ‘the Doctor without Rose’ not about the Doctor and anyone but her. Moff Who just isn’t enough Who enough for me because it’s not about the Doctor and Rose anymore.

What makes me happy about them:
How they make each other into the best versions of themselves; the happiest, strongest, most whole, and just best versions of who they can be.

What makes me sad about them:
That the basic structure of the show wouldn’t allow them to have a real happy ending. And that in trying to have his cake and eat it too, RTD wrote a happy ending that was really unsatisfying.

My favourite scene with them:
SO MANY CHOICES. If I had to pick just one...I don’t know how, but the closing scenes of The Satan Pit, from “I believe in her” to the reunion hug, to “the stuff of legends” it’s all great.

My least favourite scene with them:
Most scenes in GitF where Rose is expected to roll over and let the Doctor run around with Reinette.

The biggest challenge to their relationship:
Moffat feeling the need to one up Rusty is terms of special romance. He totally missed to point of what made Doctor/Rose work naturally, but his version of how it should work tries to put down the version that actually did.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me:
Too much preference for Nine or Ten over the other, similarly ignoring the emotional trauma of the end of JE and have Rose and Cloen go on as if things are just clean and easy.

Things I look for in fanfic:
Them being happy and together and having fun while all is right with the world. As Mckey would say “The Doctor, in the TARDIS, with Rose Tyler.”

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
I don’t hate the Cloen/Rose ending, but I don’t think I’ll ever be really okay with it. I can handle Doctor/Master in a messy codependent arrangement. And either of them with Jack as long as the third member of the trio is still important (Doctor/Rose leaving Jack behind I can handle, either of them letting go of the other especially while with Jack, not acceptable).

My happily ever after for them:
Dark-Ten either stopped them from being separated in Doomsday or the meta crisis from happening, either way there end up being just two of them to worry about and they spend their lives being awesome together.

What I think will happen with them in the future:
At the moment, that Moffat will fail to understand or write hem very well in the 50th special.

3. The Master

How I feel about this character:
I like the Master as a villain, or a sometimes partial ally, but have no interest in a full redemption for him because I think that would cut his character off from what makes him interesting. There’s plenty that can be done within shades with what he actually IS without needing to redefine him entirely.

My unpopular opinion about this character:
I still want Doctor/Rose-Master-Lucy dinner party shenanigans

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I wish he’d actually gotten to meet Rose, I feel like they’re really the natural enemies vying for the Doctor’s soul.

My het ship:
Master/Lucy the way it seemed at first with her as willing ally in his world domination schemes. I really wanted to like them at first because I loved them as a dark mirror of the Doctor/Rose relationship.

My fem/slash ship:
Doctor/Master clearly

My OTP:
Doctor/Master, but not in a fluffy bunny rabbits way, like I said in the first question.

My OT3:
Um...I guess Master/Doctor/Rose but it doesn’t quite fit.

My non-romantic OTP:
How I actually prefer Doctor/Master

My anti-ship:
I don’t have any strong anti-ship feelings

A headcanon fact:
He loves the idea of Rose and regrets that they never actually met because he thinks she must be the most amazing person (or at least human) ever.

A scene/moment that sums up this character:
Quite a few of his scenes in in EoT, but it’s been so long since I watched it I can’t remember which the most.

An idea I have for the character that I haven't written:
I had a really dark idea post-LotTL for the Master escaping into Pete’s World and taking that over instead, brainwashing Rose to serve as his companion, until the Doctor showed up and had to choose between his past and future.

I wish he’d actually gotten to meet Rose, I feel like they’re really the natural enemies vying for the Doctor’s soul.

I could see him being immensely jealous of Rose.

I view it as essentially canon that he envied the Doctor for knowing Rose, bringing her up out of nowhere in LotTl and all; but yeah, the three of them dealing with each other there'd also be an element of envying her too; she might be jealous of him just a little too, being able to share the Time Lord stuff with the Doctor and all.
