FMM picks and predictions round 1

DEAR GODS I HATE THE NEW POST EDITOR WINDOW. I WILL ALWAYS HATE IT, HOW CAN I ANNOY THE LJ FOLKS TO BRING BACK THE OLD ONE BECAUSE THEY ARE ASSHOLES FOR DOING THIS TO ME. IT IS AWFUL AND ATROCIOUS AN A CRIME AGAINST ME AT LEAST.

That said, Here's my predictions and personal picks for f_march_madness round 1

Comedy

Contest: Liz Lemon (30 Rock) vs. Pam Beesly (The Office)
My Prediction: I think Liz takes it but not by a huge margin
My Pick/vote: Pam, but I hate that they had to go against each other right away
Comments: A rough one right off the bat...

Contest: Nick Miller (New Girl) vs. Lana Kane (Archer)
My Prediction: I predicted Lana for my bracket but had no real firm reasoning
My Pick/vote: Don’t have one so far
Comments: I also have no real desire to watch either of these at the moment.

Contest: Gus (Psych) vs. Ellie Torres (Cougar Town)
My Prediction: I went back and forth on this one and ended up guessing Ellie.
My Pick/vote: Gus, because I actually watch Psych.
Comments: Nothing I haven’t said already.

Contest: Leslie Knope (Parks & Rec) vs. Jane Kerkovich-Williams (Happy Endings)
My Prediction: Leslie by a mile
My Pick/vote: Leslie because I feel like it.
Comments: I am more liely to watch P&R than I am HE so that probably contributed.

Contest: Britta Perry (Community) vs. Dee Reynolds (It's Always Sunny...)
My Prediction: Britta in a totally pounding
My Pick/vote: Britta yeah
Comments: I don’t think this one is anywhere near fair.

Contest: Mindy Lahiri (The Mindy Project) vs. Shoshanna Shapiro (Girls)
My Prediction: I predicted Shoshanna on the basis that Girls sounds popular
My Pick/vote: Nothing so far
Comments: I feel no drive to watch either of these shows.

Contest: Chloe (Don't Trust the B…) vs. Tina Belcher (Bob's Burgers)
My Prediction: I predicted Tina since BB managed to fight its way onto the bracket ahead of shows I was sure would make it.
My Pick/vote: Nothing at the moment
Comments: Nothing to say really.

Contest: Miranda (Miranda) vs. Kate Fox (Ben & Kate)
My Prediction: Miranda
My Pick/vote: Miranda by virtue of having seen it.
Comments: I got through s2 of Miranda yesterday, on to s3 tonight (probably).


Teen

Contest: Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games) vs. Saz Kaur (Some Girls)
My Prediction: Katniss murders her competition
My Pick/vote: Katniss from me too.
Comments: I’ve never even heard of Some Girls so no opinion there.

Contest: Spencer Hastings (Pretty Little Liars) vs. Katara (Avatar)
My Prediction: I think Katara pulls this one off
My Pick/vote: Katara or course
Comments: This one’s close-ish but think Katara wins out

Contest: Scott McCall (Teen Wolf) vs. Jade West (Victorious)
My Prediction: I think Scott/Teen Wolf wins this battle
My Pick/vote: I have no opinion here
Comments: I may vote my bracket unless given another reason to make decision, or I may not bother unless I am.

Contest: Dan Humphrey (Gossip Girl) vs. Carrie Bradshaw (The Carrie Diaries)
My Prediction: I’m pretty sure Dan wins out
My Pick/vote: With no opinion of my own I welcome input.
Comments: Wait, if Dan is Gossip Girl aren’t these kind of similar characters anyway? (Note, I don’t watch either these or S&tC so I’m guessing)

Contest: Tami Taylor (Friday Night Lights) vs. Tessa Altman (Suburgatory)
My Prediction: Tami comfortably
My Pick/vote: Might as well go with Tami
Comments: I should re/watch FNL one of these days.

Contest: Rae Earl (My Mad Fat Diary) vs. Artemis Crock (Young Justice)
My Prediction: I went with Artemis based on familiarity
My Pick/vote: Artemis because she and the show are good.
Comments: Having voted, apparently MMFD is more popular than I thought since I’ve barely heard of it

Contest: Santana Lopez (Glee) vs. Caroline Forbes (The Vampire Diaries)
My Prediction: I think Santana wins out
My Pick/vote: But for me it’s Caroline
Comments: I won’t be surprised exactly if I’m wrong, but I think more people think of Santa as a redemptive character on downgraded Glee than even watch TVD (at least in terms of the FMM pool).

Contest: Hermione Granger (Harry Potter) vs. Sophia Swanson (Underemployed)
My Prediction: Hermione EASILY
My Pick/vote: Hermione duh.
Comments: This one doesn’t even have a quick fight, there’s NO fight here.


Sci-fi / Fantasy

Contest: Olivia Dunham (Fringe) vs. Lana Winters (American Horror Story)
My Prediction: Olivia, comfortably
My Pick/vote: Nothing so far, but probably closer to Olivia/Fringe than Lana/AHS
Comments: Nothing beyond that.

Contest: Daryl Dixon (The Walking Dead) vs. Alisha Bailey (Misfits)
My Prediction: I ended up going with Alisha but I think it could be close
My Pick/vote: Nothing so far, you’re welcome to convince me
Comments: These are both kinda sorta on my to watch list but Misfits is probably closer to happening.

Contest: Annie Sawyer (Being Human) vs. Audrey Parker (Haven)
My Prediction: I ended up going with Annie but not really confidently.
My Pick/vote: Nothing as yet, though I have at least seen part of BH
Comments: Nothing else

Contest: Kara Thrace (Battlestar Galactica) vs. Claudia Donovan (Warehouse 13)
My Prediction: Kara, probably easily
My Pick/vote: Kara from me too
Comments: Considering I have Kara to win the SFF bracket...

Contest: Nikita Mears (Nikita) vs. Jo Harvelle (Supernatural)
My Prediction: I waffled on this but ultimately guessed Jo/SPN will win out
My Pick/vote: Nothing so far, though I’m closer to watching Nikita than SPN
Comments: I’m still weirded out by SPN fandom not picking one of the guys.

Contest: Sansa Stark (Game of Thrones) vs. Catherine Chandler (Beauty and the Beast)
My Prediction: Sansa in an utter destruction of Catherine
My Pick/vote: Sansa easily
Comments: Sansa in GoT and not played by Lana Lang, therefore she wins easily (with me and overall).

Contest: Martha Jones (Doctor Who) vs. Ruby (Once Upon a Time)
My Prediction: Martha comfortably
My Pick/vote: I kind of closed my eyes and picked Ruby, since I like them about evenly and she probably needs it more.
Comments: But I’m not set on voting either way in this challenge

Contest: Natasha Romanoff (The Avengers) vs. Jessica Hamby (True Blood)
My Prediction: Natasha EASILY
My Pick/vote: Natasha has my vote too
Comments: Might this in any way help us get a Black Widow movie? Probably not, but it would be nice to think so.


Drama

Contest: Joan Watson (Elementary) vs. Claire Underwood (House of Cards)
My Prediction: Judging by Joan’s performance in the prelims I’m betting on her.
My Pick/vote: Might as well vote Joan myself
Comments: Not really.

Contest: Carrie Mathison (Homeland) vs. Donna Paulsen (Suits)
My Prediction: Suits clawed its way onto the bracket but I ultimately decided that Homeland had a better backing so Carrie.
My Pick/vote: Nothing so far
Comments: Can’t think of much.

Contest: Fiona Gallagher (Shameless) vs. Bel Rowley (The Hour)
My Prediction: It seems like I’ve heard more about The Hour so I went with Bel.
My Pick/vote: Nothing at the moment.
Comments: Not as such.

Contest: Mary Crawley (Downton Abbey) vs. Emily Thorne (Revenge)
My Prediction: I figure Mary has this one
My Pick/vote: This one kills me since I love them both, but I think Mary has a slight edge...
Comments: But I may change my mind before this is over.

Contest: Parker (Leverage) vs. Olivia Pope (Scandal)
My Prediction: Parker since Leverage seemed to have a strong support in the show noms.
My Pick/vote: Nothing so far
Comments: I can’t even say either of these shows is really on my to watch list.

Contest: Alice Morgan (Luther) vs. Molly Hooper (Sherlock)
My Prediction: I battled with myself on this one but went with Molly, though it does seem Sherlock fandom kind of threw her under the bus this year.
My Pick/vote: I have no stake in this.
Comments: I wonder how many people have already informed to mods they list Molly as Holly on the ballot?

Contest: Skyler White (Breaking Bad) vs. Kalinda Sharma (The Good Wife)
My Prediction: I figure Kalinda based on how much love she seemed to get in last year’s FMM.
My Pick/vote: Nothing as yet.
Comments: Nothing really here either

Contest: Kate Beckett (Castle) vs. Lizzie Bennet (The Lizzie Bennet Diaries)
My Prediction: I think Kate wins out
My Pick/vote: I love you Lizzie, but it’s Kate Beckett
Comments: I think this will be closer than it ought to be, but I do think Kate will win it.
