OUaT: 2x14
Since so many people had guessed the reveal here, I’m especially glad the episode wasn’t about the reveal as much as the first stage of the fallout from it.
Really this is the most legitimately scared I’ve been of this show...possibly ever, because there was no way for it to end well. Gold was scary, that was part of it, but even more just the fact that everyone was going to get hurt by this, whether anyone lashed out and physically hurt anyone or not.
I love that Emma called Snow, Emma finally has someone she can turn to for help when her world is falling apart.
It’s also probably the most I’ve gotten emotionally over the show in a while, for exactly all those reasons.
I’m normally not a big fan of Rumple backstory eps, but this one was okay since the flashbacks had so little to do with the actual plot of the episode, just providing a little more context to some things we already knew about and setting up Henry as Rumple’s downfall (I’m pretty sure that can be taken at least 20 different ways so I really don’t expect it’s leading to Rumple’s end or anything, and the show wants us to sympathize with Rumple and watching him engage in child murder really isn’t something I expect the show will do).
Oh David, you’re going to have to help Henry the next time he has to make a family tree for school; also you are so having holidays with this screwy family of yours.
Revenge: 2x14
So out with evil Sam Anders, in with evil Owen Harper. Also, can we let Burn Gordon keep his accent? It was bad enough in The Dark Knight Rises but it’s really going to bother me if he’s going to be sticking around American shows now. He sounds so unnatural with an American accent.
I suddenly ship Aiden/Padma, even though I’ve been okay with Nolan/Padma until now and wanted to like Emily/Aiden even if I didn’t really like it much in practice. (I find my heart kind of belongs to Emily/Daniel even though I actually don’t want it to.)
I actually did like this episode a fair amount but as usual it ends up being a reminder why this show should stay away from action; the plotting and the conspiracies and that manipulations all feel epicified but the action so completely does not, the action just feels like TV.
I haven’t quite worked out how I feel about “Amanda”’s death, I’m kind of happy the show actually went there because for a while I was completely convinced only evil Sam was going to die rather than any of the actual characters but it really feels like a contrivance to leave the door open for Emily/Jack which I really don’t like. Plus it could end up in women in refrigerators territory, though at least in this case the motivated party is also a woman. I’m reserving judgment for now basically.
Castle: 5x15
This show is great, this show is so great.
While we don’t know how it’s going to end up yet obviously, this show manages to have the main character’s daughter get kidnapped and not do it in any way that offends my feminist senses.
And how much do I love it that I can completely buy how Alexis can pick locks? She’s not a crack locksmith or anything, but she knows enough not to be helpless because Rick insisted on involving her in his research projects when she was ten. We mostly see their relationship through his eyes here (really, pretty much always do), which just makes her recollections even sweeter.
I just...the emotions of it are so powerful and so well done that I really have nothing to complain about except that the second half isn’t already here. I need to see this through.
Basically, why do I keep watching TVD when all these shows are way better?
Also I REALLY hate the new post editor, and I'm going to keep bitching about it and occasionally sending bitchy messages to the lj team until they bring back the classic version. I HATE *EVERYTHING* about this new version.
Also, this is why I absolutely refuse to use the click the damn thing about changing to the new version of the friends page because lj is a bunch of idiotic butt heads who don't give you the ability to change back if you hate the changes they made. Offer new options all you want but BY ALL THE GODS leave me the ability to go back if I don't like it.
For the record I recently sacrificed all my iTunes playlists because I hated the newer version of iTunes I had downloaded. Make changes I hate and I will do a LOT in order to get away from it.
