Pick a trope from this list and provide a fandom/pairing and I'll tell you something about the story I'd write for that combination (i.e. write a snippet from the story or write not!fic or tell you the title and summary for the story I would write)

Date: 2012-09-26 05:38 am (UTC)You know, those are the types of AUs that I really just don't get. I just don't go for putting characters in situations that make them not them anymore. I write fanfic because I want to explore who the characters *are* or sometimes who they might have been if something had/n't happened differently, but not put them into an entirely different universe from that which makes them who they are.
I mean high school Elijah? Well I could see some comparison to Stefan probably (but we all know how I feel about E/S), but the thing that make him Elijah is that he's a thousand years old and a freaking ADULT, and an Original so he means to be the most powerful person in any situation but he likes having to negotiate with a barely legal kid.
MAYBE I'd write an AU where Elena didn't find out about vampires/etc. until she was older and Elijah was teaching a class she took at college or something. But even then...that's just me changing some details rather than fully changing THEM.
5. Ten/Rose
Hmm, that could be written with just about any version of them. s2 Ten/Rose, EASY. Cloen/Rose, easy (assuming I can make myself write Cloen/Rose). Any AU ending with Ten/Rose, still easy. But I'm an angst freak so how about some emo-Ten under alien mistletoe?

Somehow it had escaped the Doctor that the garlands that decorated the room he was in were actually saplings of the great Forest of Cheem. In time they were a long lived species) they would take humanoid form like the majority of the party guests.
The Cheemites had inherited a lot of their customs from old Earth human cultures and this would have been Christmas back on Earth. The Doctor wasn't too keen on that fact but Donna had been excited to see how sentient trees celebrated the holiday so here he was leaning up against a wall (it was painted to look wooden but actually wasn't).
He saw a man wander over to reach up and stroke the leaves of a plant not far from where the Doctor was standing. He wasn't a Cheemite, but he wasn't human either, one of a small party of Arnassians who had been invited to the party. Immediately upon stroking the plan the Arnassian man's eyes shifted from a dreary yellow to a dreamy gold (Arnassians didn't have face muscles to communicate feelings but their eyes did plenty).
Intrigued the Doctor wandered over a few moments later as the man left and reached up to touch the plant, and immediately he wasn't alone in the task. is hand brushed against a familiar slender hand. Rose smiled playfully as her finger quickly assumed their customary position interlaced with his own (right where they belonged). Before even his usually quick mind could think of why this oh-so-right circumstance felt wrong she stepped towards him and gently pressed her lips to his.
There was no way this was wrong.
But there was no way it could be real.
She was gone as quickly as she had appeared and he was left with the cold reality of his situation. He could feel the young sapling apologizing for upsetting him as the vision ended, she was just supposed to show people what they wanted so they wouldn't feel so alone.
The Doctor wandered away from the young psychic tree, feeling more alone than ever.
