mrv3000 does these things of TVD too, but I’m only going to join in for Doctor Who. My thoughts only from other people’s reaction posts.

DW 7x01

-Apparently it didn’t suck. Or maybe was okay on first watch but doesn’t stand up to scrutiny (somehow that doesn’t surprise me).

-The next companion made a surprise appearance. But it may not have actually been her, nobody seems real clear. Either way I think she’s a Dalek now.

-Someone made the Daleks forget about the Doctor, which seems like kind of a weird thing to happen. Also, way to fuck with the Doctor-Daleks dynamic that has been so important to New Who until this point; but then if Eleven is going to have half the emotional depth of Ron Weasley it’s par for the course of pretending the emotionally complex past didn’t happen.

-Amy and Rory almost broke up? But it was just because Amy can’t have kids (and therefore in Moff’s view not a true woman) and they made up in the end and maybe she can have kids again? Either way the problem seems to be gone.

-That’s about all I got.

From what I saw of my flist, some people loved it, some people disliked it, and some people were meh.

Apparently the actress who played the Dalek/companion was really good? The only thing anyone has called her on my flist has been JGL, which is not the most helpful in knowing who she is, since I kinda doubt she's Joseph Gordon-Levitt and that's all that comes up on google for those initials.

ETA: Oh, wait, it's JLC.

It does look like response to the possibly new companion is fairly positive yeah. Probably the overall best response I'm seeing from my flist who range from 'tentatively kinda like it' to 'nope still no good'.

Lol. I think it was better than any episode last season, but that's not saying much at all. I had decided not to watch because of how horrendous last season was, but saw some of the tentatively positive comments about it on my flist and decided to give it a chance. And, yeah, like I said, in comparison to last season, it was really good. Compare it to when the show was actually consistently good (back when RTD was in charge), and it would be kind of "meh".

I suppose it does depend on what measuring stick you're using. I think I have heard its 'fairly good for Moffat' rather than 'actually good' and for some people that's okay, others are still wishing for more. I'm not even watching (though I keep thinking I should get caught up and see if I can cobble together clips for an Eleven/Rose vid but that's about the only draw).
