I really only have one thing I need to say about this episode...
I CALLED IT I called it weeks ago that killing the Originals was more than just killing them and the "heroes" of the show were going to have to let the Originals live in order to save themselves.
I also choose to think Elena's inner monologue was something like "I really hope you all are in Elijah's bloodline so I have an excuse to save him. I'm mad at him, doesn't mean I want him dead." Also I think there's a definite case to be made that they are Elijah's bloodline just on the slight interactions we saw between Rose and Elijah last season.
Although I am curious what happened to Mikael's bloodline when he was staked. I can fanwank that he didn't have a vast bloodline, but somebody out there probably should have noticed since then. Then again that was what a month ago in show time?
I am clearly not the show's target audience since even though Finn was pretty much always a dead man walking I'm upset about him dying (admittedly mostly because it upsets my Original Family Sitcom/crack fic ideas) and while the Stefan and Elena scene was well acted I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE TRIANGLE.
Okay, so it was a couple thoughts past I CALLED IT, but that's the big one.
