After a few weeks Allan was growing accustomed to the sounds the other members of the team made while they slept. Much snored, Robin wheezed, John’s deep breathing was a little like both but not as loud as one would expect from such a large man. Roy had snored too Alan was already starting to forget that.

It was interesting, sometimes unnerving, how alike Will and Djaq were in sleep. Often Alan had to think which of them had made some soft sound he heard in the night. He had to wonder if they knew just how alike they were.

“Don’t let them see you sweat,” Rachel told herself as she reminded herself to breathe. Her stomach was in knots and she could barely keep her hands from shaking, but her dads’ advice from years ago echoed in her ears, “Don’t let them see you sweat.”

It was the biggest performance of her life, her friends were counting on her to lead them to victory and suddenly all the pressure seemed too much.

As the music started it got easier to breathe, her stomach quieted and her hands stilled. She knew this, she could do this; she’d always known this.

It’s like looking in a mirror. Well going back in time and looking in a mirror. Well, going back in time, aging along a different trend, and then looking in a mirror. In any case, coming face to face with a half human version of his previous life was odd.

He also chose to ignore the wedding band his pseudo-double kept flashing his way. He’d expected that to happen but didn’t need it rubbed in his face. “I need your help,” he said, his teeth clenched as he said it.

As expected, it just made the other Doctor act smugger.

For humans forever was a word, at most a concept they could just barely grasp, but for a Time Lord it was reality. To love forever meant just that. He couldn’t promise her that, but he would give her her understanding of forever; a lifetime for her, a few of his probably.

Or so he thought. Even that was denied them by Torchwood. After the battle, in the wreckage of his life, his broken hearts told him it wasn’t just human forever he had lost.

Marian dreams of the day the king will return to England, her father will be vindicated, and Robin will be restored to his proper place in Locksley. She imagines her wedding day with Robin beside her, imagines standing in Locksley church and hearing her Robin speak vows of love and honor.

But when she imagines her wedding night, it’s not Robin’s touch she pictures. It’s not Robin’s eyes she imagines burning with desire. And it isn’t Robin’s voice she feels whispering words of love against her skin.

She wants to marry Robin, but in her dreams it’s Gisborne she desires.

Daniel thought she sounded adorable, and he didn’t think it was just his own tipsy state. He leaned over to kiss her cheek, but she turned so instead he met her lips. They lingered in that moment, enjoying the sweet taste of each other’s mouths before they separated.

“S’more,” she said again, an almost wicked glint in her eye this time.

Even as Richard sat next to Kahlan, watching the sun set over the lake, he could feel how tense she was. She didn’t trust herself right now, especially not with him. He knew she was thinking about all that Zedd had said as much as he was, but it would take time to put it to the test.

So tonight they just sat together, and watched the stars come out over a new world.

But he wasn’t really either of those anymore, so he just walked past. He’d accepted what he was, a young man with an old man’s eyes that had seen more than anyone his age should. That didn’t mean he knew how to be that anomaly.

“She is returning.”

He knew Donna believed what he couldn’t let himself believe. She tried to get him to say what she thought and he wished, but he couldn’t talk about it, because he knew it couldn’t be.

Those three words haunted him, until two other words found him, Bad Wolf.

Harry lay in the garden, out of sight of Aunt Petunia and any passers-by. He didn’t have to worry about Dudley, he was still asleep; Dudley was allowed to sleep as late as he wanted on summer days.

Not Harry, Uncle Vernon had woken him up before he’d left the house and only now had Harry been sent outside, provided he stayed out of sight.

He watched a bug crawl across one of the leaves above him, and soon it spread its wings and flew off somewhere else. Harry couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to fly.
