The Great Frasier Rewatch part...the next

jedi_of_urthAt this stage I'm feeling kind of like I've ingested too much Frasier so I'm watching quite a bit slower that I started out doing. So through season 9...
Not that there's all that much to say but I guess I can find a couple things to ramble about.
I think season 8 was by and large a wash and is easily my least favorite season. The problem was that so many things ended up dictated that the story didn't hold up as well. The big thing of the season was that Niles and Daphne were finally together, except with Jane Leeves pregnancy they couldn't do that plot the way they might have done it otherwise, and I feel the resolution of the fat plot just doesn't work (it wasn't a great choice for plot, but I might have taken it better if the resolution had worked); it really undervalues when Daphne was going through and completely misses the mark on Niles' behavior. And because of the way the plot had to be structured getting into it and the lackluster way of getting out of it, it just doesn't seem like a character arc so much as a staling tactic (which it was).
All told the show picked up a lot in season 9, even some in the last bit of s8 once the pieces got back in line, everyone's arcs got more...arcy.
Oh yeah, we're into the phase of the show where my watching was at best sporadic and sometimes non existent so my comments now are less about how my perception differs from that of a teen and more about the difference between seeing the story unfold and skipping across it.
I can't decide if including Daphne's mom as a pseudo-regular was a great idea, but there are worse ideas out there. I think I should dislike her being around but I just find her vaguely annoying but not aggravating most of the time. Sort of beige flavored annoyance.
Okay I found a few things to say I guess, I might have had more thoughts but on the recommendation of seemingly everyone of my f-list (so it was just three of you in close succession) I've decided to give The Vampire Diaries a shot while I watch Frasier more slowly. So my thoughts are kind of divided.
