So,
f_march_madness is going on, and I feel the need to give you all my opinions on how the first round of things turned out. Mostly just stuff I had any opinion on, though maybe a few others.
Comedies
30 Rock:
This is Liz Lemon's show, if anyone else had gotten the nomination I might have had to flounce away from this because it would show fandom is dumb (not that anyone can prove otherwise anyway).
Arrested Development:
This is such a great cast of characters, so I can't be surprised at any of them winning really. However Gob was never my personal favorite so I feel a bit burned.
Big Bang Theory:
Sigh, obviously Sheldon was always going to win, regardless of the fact that he is my least favorite character on the show. Yes, he is. Have I not mentioned that? I like *Howard* better these days than Sheldon and I used to hate Howard.
Community:
I figured Abed would win, and this time I'm okay with it. Abed is meant to be fandom's darling, and I adore him too. I like/love all the the characters on the show actually, so with the exception of maybe Pierce I would have been okay with anyone getting the nom.
Fake News:
I will always pick Stewart over Colbert, and I'm glad in this case fandom agrees with me. And realistically it was always going to come out with those two on top, although I'm kind of glad to see others got some votes too.
Friends:
I really had to think over my vote here because over all the years of the show each friend ebbed in and out of favor. So basically I would have been okay with anyone winning. But since I ultimately voted for Chandler myself I have even less to complain about.
HIMYM:
This is why I stay out off HIMYM fandom, because I DO NOT GET the love of Barney. It was always obvious he was going to win, how would he not? Fandom loves him for reasons I DO NOT GET. Depending on my mood any of the other characters can be my favorite but NEVER Barney because I kind of detest him. (Nothing against NPH actually, I just quietly hate the character, mostly because fandom so overwhelmingly loves him.)
The Office:
My initial narrowing down of this left me with like seven characters still that I would vote for, in the end I went with Jim and I'm glad other people did too.
Psych:
Given I've more or less wandered away from this show (no real reason just seems to have happened) I did have real strong feeling on this one. But since it was always the Shawn and Gus show I figured as long as one of them won it I'd be okay, and yep I am.
Scrubs:
I voted for Cox and so did the majority of the rest of the voters. In spite of that I am sad about how low Turk and Carla ended up in the rankings. There's just no way the Janitor should have ended up ahead of them.
Weeds:
Although I'm not sure Nancy should have won (I like her a lot, and she is the best acted character on the show, but she's not always the best written) it was pretty much always going to end up this way. I'm not complaining about it, just not entirely convinced by it.
Wow, I watch a lot of the comedies considered here. Next up: sci-fi shows (and then I think I'll condense the drama and teen categories, we'll see)
