(a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon
-Sometimes she actually hoped Robin wouldn’t come back from the Holy Land. Partly because she didn’t want him to have to deal with what had happened in England while he was away and partly because she didn’t want to have to deal with things after the way they ended when he left. They never did do the latter.
-Just once, in late season 2, she kissed Guy for no other reason than she wanted to. She was awkward and shy around him for the next week because she didn’t know how she felt about it. Eventually she just decided to pretend it hadn’t happened.
-She knows more about the layout of Nottingham Castle than anyone alive, she only doled out that knowledge to the gang in pieces as she deemed it necessary.
(b) a reason he/she sucks
She’s pretty callous when it comes to other people’s feelings (not just Guy but that’s a decent part of it, Edward is the other big one, and there are lesser ones too).
(c) a reason he/she is awesomecakes
Because she’s not afraid to give anyone a piece of her mind.
(d) five things that never happened to that character and/or
-She had no serious suitors between Robin and Guy, at first because she was known as Robin’s Girl and about the time that started to wear off it was because even before Guy actually courted her he was often hovering around her making other potential suitors think that he was courting her.
-She never wanted to have children, other people’s kids are one thing but she didn’t want any of her own.
-She never considered that Allan might have a crush on her. I go back and forth on whether he did or not, but she never even thought of it.
-She never liked living in the forest for two reasons. She didn’t really fit in with the gang on a full time basis and she didn’t like Robin in that environment. The actual living conditions of the situation were a distant third reason.
-Until the Sheriff threw it out into the open she never believed Guy had tried to kill the king; she still wouldn’t have if Guy hadn’t confirmed it.
(e) five people that character never fell in love with and why
-Much – From both of their early memories they were always competing for Robin’s attention so that meant they actually saw a decent amount of each other, but they never liked each other as individuals or even understood why Robin was so devoted to the other.
-Sheriff Edward’s captain of the guard – she had a childhood crush on him, but he died when she was eleven.
-Allan A-Dale – by the time they actually got to know each other as people neither of them would have done that to Robin or Guy.
-Vasey – for all the obvious reasons.
-Guy of Gisborne – Not that she couldn’t have, but as far as canon goes she never did. Most of the time Guy affections just confused her because he clearly didn’t know what to do with them, and most of the time neither did she.

(a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon
-Rose’s biggest fear growing up was becoming like Jackie. She loves her mother, but would take any chance to avoid living that life. She’s never thought about that in words so much, but it’s true.
-Rose didn’t tell Jackie about the dimensional canon project until it started working, even when Jackie was trying to set Rose up on dates with high society bachelors and Rose was too busy with all things Torchwood to explain her disinterest in dating. She never quite understood why it would even need to be explained that she had no interest in dating again.
-Rose will outlive Ten II, my assumed reasons for it vary, but I always believe she will.
(b) a reason he/she sucks
She can sometimes rush to judgment about people and events.
(c) a reason he/she is awesomecakes
Because she’s amazing in oh so many ways. But to name one, she never gives up and she fights for what she believes in.
(d) five things that never happened to that character and/or
-She still doesn’t have any regular degrees. No one at Torchwood has the guts to ask for the story behind that fact.
-She never feels comfortable with the fact that her official history for living in Pete’s World is entirely faked, it takes too much lying to too many people.
-She never completely forgives Mickey for leaving and not saying goodbye. She kind of understands it from the Doctor, but not Mickey.
-She never fully dismantles the dimensional cannon, at first because Ten II convinced her not to, but later she realizes she can’t bring herself to do it either.
-She never loses the ability to understand alien languages. It fades in most companions eventually, but not for Rose.
(e) five people that character never fell in love with and why
-Mickey Smith – both times they dated she tried, and she kept believing she would, but it never happened.
-Jack Harkness – flirting with Jack came as naturally as breathing because he was Jack, but she never felt more than friendship for him
-Ianto Jones – he was her second in command on the dimensional cannon project and he was in love with her, but she was so focused on her mission and the chance to get back to the Doctor that she dismissed his feelings as a crush that they didn’t have time to deal with.
-Her first partner at Torchwood-Pete’s-World – it would have been so easy to take their friendship to the next level, but she knew she couldn’t give her heart away again so she never made a move. She and Ten II sometimes go on double dates with him and his wife and everybody couldn’t be happier.
-Harry Saxon – even if they had ever met it wouldn’t have been real love, just the Master messing with her head.
Of course I could do any number of expanded canon for some of my huge sweeping epic fanfic ideas, but these are more less the things I feel around the canon events.

Date: 2009-09-15 12:22 am (UTC)The fact that for me the Marian-in-the-forest episodes spelled the death of any lingering hopes I had for Robin/Marian working (I think it's no coincidence that I only really admitted I was shipping Guy/Marian during and after that phase) bleeds into that first one a lot. The second just seems obvious to me.
