So the other night I had the chance to watch the unaired episode of Dollhouse and so...

In short: AWESOME, if this is the outline for seasons to come I'm sold and hooked and all kinds of stuff. It's pretty dark, especially *knowing* how the world is going to hell, but it looks like it will be interesting to watch them go there (unlike say the Caprica pilot, but at least part of the problem there is that we've already seen the BSG finale which...basically makes anything else in that universe feel useless since apparently everything happens because God Did It).

In fact I don't want them to take the cheap way out and somehow go back and stop this future from happening, so for me they either have to go forward in that future or the show will go back and tell the full story of how it happened. It's a toss up which of those I want more, mostly I want more Whiskey and Adele both of which might be hard in the future setting, but there's a lot of plot there to explore.

And if they wuss out and just straight up *don't* have this happen then I think including it on the DVD was a huge mistake because it hinted at so much awesome that it had better deliver on it.

So a few less general thoughts:

It took a while to get over the jarring effect of being out of time with the rest of the series. Even with them making sure to include the title pretty early I still felt a little like I was watching the wrong show.

I think Topher just rocketed up my list of favorite characters. Watching him devolve into complete crazy over the course of the episode was amazing. Him being so grossed out as things devolve and then feeling completely responsible for what happened (because he was, responsible but not guilty though) was such a load of characterization that has kind of been lacking before.

And did I mention Adele/Topher? Because all of a sudden I really like it (and makes them getting all flirty in that one episode kind of awesome). And I could totally get behind Claire/Boyd too.

Anything involving Echo/Caroline or Paul however, snoozey as usual. Although I will say that the idea of the ship is not *quite* as gross after some time as it is now.

Needed more Victor and Sierra.

The fact that Whiskey remained Claire throughout things, but wasn't in the time of the main action of the story interests me and I feel like there's way more story there that we've gotten so far (or are likely to depending on how things go next season).

Lawrence Dominic FTW, I always adored the character and they brought him back to snark on the world going to hell. Somehow they need to find a way to bring him back full time.

The casual mention that Alpha was helping out in the future makes me happy because it means more not-Wash.

In conclusion, why isn't Adele the main character on this show?

I recently watched it too. I thought it was a pretty awesome way to end a first season, either as a promise of things to come or the coda it would have been if the show had been cancelled.

I agree that I liked Topher for really the first time in this episode and would so appreciate the Adele/Topher. Crazy!Topher, that is.

I agree, more Alpha is exciting. In short, what you said.

(The unaired pilot, however, I didn't like so much. The opening was good, but I preferred the slow reveals we got this season.)
