“Do You Love Me?” I think we just might

Forgoing the hotness report this week in favor of slash update.

The Guy/Vasey/Prince John love triangle is fascinating of course, because it’s all political and people who want each other dead anyway and completely screwy. But since John went to the trouble of dragging Guy shirtless to the meting to ask him if he loved [John] I think that’s got my vote for the moment.

Okay, Allan/Much is getting less subtle by the week. The way they ran off into the forest together so Robin could mack with Isabella was total slash fodder. Baring that it was at least cute friendshippy, it’s nice to see Much having a friend in the gang besides Robin.

Basically the only reason I want Allan/Isabella is for the Guy/Allan subtext it could have. Not that there’s any reason to think it’s going there, but I want it anyway.

Why has Tuck been so devoid of slash vibes since his first episode? That’s not right. I mean, it’s one thing for Little John to be outside the standard level of slash, but Tuck is a lot prettier.

Okay, now onto het ship thoughts.

I’m of two minds on Robin/Isabella. On one hand I quite like it, there’s something about the relationship that just works for me. Maybe it’s the level of screwed up it takes for a recently widowed man and a married woman who is the sister of the killer of the wife of said man to just be sexy together. And I do find them sexy together, and of course I was never into Robin/Marian all that much to begin with. On the flip side, maybe I was spoiled by season 3 of Doctor Who, or maybe it’s the fact that Guy is still off his rocker from Marian’s death, but I really thought Robin would be less ready to jump into something with someone else.

Oh Much. Kate making eyes at Robin while Much was tending to her breaks my heart a little. Much, or even Allan, is such a better catch that Robin, but Kate seems to have stars in her eyes on that front. Still not sure it makes sense, but that does seem to be the way it’s going.

Prince John totally wants to nail Isabella. Whether it’s because he thinks she’s hot or because she’s willing to call him King John is still open to debate.

Hey, Guy mentioned Marian, can’t hurt the Guy/Marian shipping. Sure he’s still blaming everyone else for her death, but I don’t really think he doesn’t blame himself, just feels there’s enough blame he can spread it around a bit, and doesn’t know how to deal with his own part in it. Also, dude is really messed up.

Okay, moving on to other aspects of the story.

The show opens with shirtless Guy writhing in bed, this is relevant to my interests.

Just to say, so Guy is back at Locksley, but we find out Isabella is staying at the castle, this doesn’t bug me that much, but it seems worth noting.

Prince John is awesome and crazy. He can totally hold his own in scenes with Guy and/or Vasey, which is no small feat as most characters tend to get overshadowed by the awesomeness of those two.

I am bothered by the gang recruiting villagers to help them attack Prince John on the road. I just doubt that all that many peasants care whether Prince John is a false king or what have you (shut up Kate). Now, had it been after he burned the church down I’d believe it, but at that stage in the plot it kind of bugged me.

Speaking of Kate, I’m of two minds about her too. On one hand, taken directly, she was less annoying here, but I also dislike that she’s so quickly become like any other member of the gang in terms of her outlook and belief in Robin. Making her less stupidly “feisty” would be good, but that doesn’t mean she should lose the beliefs behind it.

Prince John playing Guy and Vasey off each other basically just for lulz amuses me greatly. The fact that Vasey was totally onto that plan but Guy, being Guy just went along with it is typical and in character. Their attempts to kill each other were awesome, especially the church bit, that was my favorite bit. The actual big fight between them was…weird. I can’t put my finger on it but there was something weird about it. It was pretty tense actually considering I didn’t really believe they’d kill either character (and then I did believe it about Vasey, but wasn’t really surprised when it turned out he wasn’t dead). Probably because there’s so much history and twistedness to those two characters.

I have to give the gang some props for their plan this week, it was complicated enough to be interesting but not so complicated that it relied on tons of stupidity for it to be pulled off. And it was actually a believable role for Kate to play, she’s not as likely to be recognized by people at court and she did already look pretty bad from her injury.

Sadly, there were a few points during the episode where I felt Isabella’s role would have been more interesting with Marian. Sometimes it was very much Isabella I admit, like the she could play Prince John in a way I honestly doubt Marian could have, and others I felt like the understood history Marian had on the show would have given more weight to the moments, like the end with Guy, the tone just would have been different with Marian there and I missed it.

However, now I really want some season 2 AU fic so we can have Marian and Isabella around at the same time (as a plus, Guy/Marian and Robin/Isabella sexy times).

You're so right they are sexy together and the kiss between them was wow..but like you, I do find it a bit strange that Robin would be with anyone else right now, plus I'm still not 100% sure he can completely trust Isabella either. She seems like she has her own plans...

OMG yes poor Much. He was there tending to her and making puppy-dog eyes at her and yet all she sees is Robin. Poor man, I just wanted to hug him at that point.

Wierd? Well see I really like Jonas as Robin, so for me it's not hard to see how Kate could fall for him but I think she's better for Much or Allan and poor Much doesn't have a lot of luck anyway. I get the feeling that Kate's gonna end up being disappointed though, cause I'm not sure Robin sees her that way.
