So, the 5 things meme returns, and here's what
sunnytyler001 associates with me.
Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.
Robin Hood (and Guy/Marian)
Fan vids
Doctor who (and Doctor/Rose)
"For kids who can't afford heroin" (Whenever I see this icon, no need to read the name, I know it's you!)
Harry/Hermione
Robin Hood (and Guy/Marian)
Robin Hood I mostly only think about when it's on, or shortly after, but I get lots of joy out of it when it's on my mind. It's so much fun and full of crack (except when it goes oh so sad) and I love cracky stories. I do wish the drama aspects were done a little better, but some of them work well enough, and there's always a daring escape to look forward to and laugh at.
Guy/Marian is such a weird ship for me. To start with Guy is so not my usual type of character, many of the objections to the ship I can level at ships I don't like too (it bears a decent similarity to Buffy/Spike which I despise and yet I love G/M), and Robin/Marian should totally be my thing. But I *don't* ship Robin/Marian, which is tied up in the reasons why I'm not much a fan of Robin himself (again, strange for me). And if I'm completely honest the best thing for Marian would probably be (have been) to get away from both of them.
But Guy/Marian is just...interesting to me, maybe as much because it was doomed as because of what it brought out in the characters, plus it was hot.
Fan vids
I think most people associate me with that; for kind of obvious reasons since it is my main contribution to fandom. I love vidding, and watching fanvids, and then watching my own vids (I'm a way harsher critic of my own stuff that I am of others). It the way music speaks to me in many ways, and the way I can best express many of my fandom feelings is through that.
Doctor who (and Doctor/Rose)
Although I've fallen away from making a big deal about DW since JE (well I keep vidding it) because I'm still weirded out by the end and am not expecting to keep watching much longer anyway, it is still the fandom I have in common with the most people on my f-list.
Doctor/Rose is just the most amazing ship ever. From the moment I fell for the ship I've never doubted it, or never doubted that RTD as writer and show runner was doing the best he could for them (even JE, as much as I think it was underwritten I've accepted what he was trying to do as maybe the shippiest thing ever). The ship has been the defining thing of the show for me, and has lead me to meet many awesome people.
If RTD was sticking around longer I'd probably be *way* more active on the DW front; if he was being replaced by someone other than Moffat, I'd probably be more active but a little uncertain; as is I know I'm pulling away from the show, although when more of my other shows go on hiatus for the summer I might go back to the good old days of this show I love so much.
"For kids who can't afford heroin" (Whenever I see this icon, no need to read the name, I know it's you!)
I snagged this one from some unsuspecting soul when I was much newer to fandom, but it was just so appropriate to me that I felt it should be mine. Pixy Stix are the semi-official food of my main roleplaying groups, if you're going to stay up til all hours of the night rping sugar is needed and we like it in very concentrated forms. It really is like a drug in some ways, but for kids (of all ages) who don't actually do drugs.
It also works quite well as a general icon the isn't associated with any one fandom or idea, just sugary fun.
Harry/Hermione
My second big fandom ship (Buffy/Giles came first), and really the one that came between my more active fandom phases. I wasn't on lj yet and the HP groups I did find I never felt fully comfortable with so I mostly lurked. I read loads of fic and tried writing a bit but I never fully dove into it.
I made it through four books without really shipping anyone in HP (although I was starting to see some of the possibilities I think, but no definite leanings) and then OOTP happened and I didn't see how it could be anything else, they just made perfect sense together. Also once I had picked a side I started thinking about the other main possibilities and realized I truly *didn't* support R/Hr (constant fighting) or H/G (she liked the legend rather than the person) so not only did I want H/Hr like burning, I really didn't want the "obvious" ships.
And then the characters changed so substantially for the last couple books that I didn't care so much anymore and realized that a lot of what I had thought about the series were not things JKR would follow through on. Not just shipping related, but that did have a decent amount to do with it.
