Title: Demons in the Dark
Author: jedi_of_urth
Characters/Pairings: Guy, angsty Guy/Marian issues
Rating: Dark, but nothing more than the show, so PG
Notes: 3x01 spoilers, Guy and his demons
Disclaimer: If I owned them do you think we’d be in this situation? I don’t so we are.
Demons in the Dark
His eyes burn from lack of sleep, but even when he blinks he sees them so he dare not sleep. Sometimes he falls asleep from shear exhaustion but he wakes up sweating and thrashing long before the need for sleep has passed.
Demons he calls them and they are. Demons of memories and ghosts and fears whose presence clouds his mind when awake and consumes him in the dark. The demons wear faces he knows; Hood and Marian, Allan and the Sheriff, Annie and so many others who betrayed him.
They taunt him, chase him, torture him. He pleads for mercy or confesses his sins or begs for them to end him, but all they can do is send him back to a life he wishes would end as much as the dreams. Sometimes he fights them and even when he wins they in turn wear Marian’s face and she’s dead by his hands again. Those that kill him may vary but in death it is her face he sees. In those moments her face is crystal clear even though awake he’s starting to forget details as his memory becomes hazier.
The worst part is, that always for just a moment after he wakes, he can’t remember the demons; and in that small moment he forgets. Until he remembers, the demons’ grasp returns and he knows he deserves them all.

Date: 2009-03-31 03:20 am (UTC)2) Thanks, glad you liked it, it ended up being shorter than I had thought but it got at the heart of Guy's issues.

Date: 2009-03-31 05:40 am (UTC)2. Short and sweet, it really did get to Guy's issues. And from the final "gang" scene of the episode, it seems clear that Robin may very well move on quickly, but clearly Guy won't...making him (again!) the more realistic character - thank you, Richard Armitage. But then, perhaps that's just my reading of that scene.
A far too fast return to Cheeky Chappie Toothy-grin Robin. Sigh. THANK YOU for the great prose. Sorry for venting in your comments! ;-)
