Look, I promise I'll say something happy after this but this rant has been boiling for a long time and I need to say it.

So I started reading Jacob's recap of last weeks BSG, and really, Jacob annoys the crap out of me most of the time and this has a lot to do with why:

HUMAN HATRED FOR THE CYLONS IS NOT RACISM

With the exception of original Boomer and the Final Five and any other sleeper cylons (hint, Gina, De'Anna, even Caprica Sharon/Athena don't count in that set), every single cylon voted to wipe out the human race. Model, individual extensions of it, EVERY SINGLE FRAKKING ONE OF THEM AGREED TO IT.

All of the at the time seven known models went in for the New Caprica occupation. Killing them then wasn't racism, it was survival, it was resistance, and THEY HAD EVERY RIGHT TO DO IT. Every single cylon except Athena and the final five were in on that too. Just because the Sixes (or at least some of them) wanted to rule a little more kindly and not kill *everyone* doesn't mean they weren't all responsible.

Boomer may not have been in on the wiping out humanity vote, and she may not have been responsible for shooting Adama but the fact that the can *have* hidden programming like that SHOULD SCARE PEOPLE.

You know what, prior to the attack on the Colonies, the humans seemed quite content to leave the Cylons alone. The humans sent a representative to the Armistice Station but the Cylons didn't which showed the humans actually may have respected the cylons more than the other way around. And if the Cylons then had approached them about their evolution to more human form who's to say what the outcome would have been, the Cylons didn't give them a chance or even just go their own way. They decided to sneak attack ALL OF HUMANITY basically for shits and giggles.

And then after months of chancing them, killing them, invading their ships, activating sleeper programming to kill more people Caprica Six and Boom manage to talk them into a break and they're like 'Okay we'll all go our own ways now.' Fine, humans decide to take the opportunity and settle on New Caprica, and who knows what the Cylons were up to; one would have suspected building a new society that was less prone to genocide/xenocide than before.

But nope, a year later they decided to do it all again and enslave all humans. If before a more moderate person might have said 'Okay, they maid big mistakes, but that doesn't mean their always going to be that way, as individuals or a race' after that I'm sorry if I understand why "forgiveness" is going to be even longer coming.

This isn't in ant form saying the humans are saints, or have 100% acted like they'd be willing to just walk away from the fight (although I'd argue they've tried more than once when the cylons only did the once and then undid it all)) but what's happened isn't two "cultures" carrying on some generations old war, this is less than three years since 99% on humanity was wiped out. I'd say being angry and hateful and suspicious is perfectly justified.

So in short, SHUT UP JACOB.

I don't read his recaps any longer. Too angry-making. Also incoherent. ITA, however, that the racism angle is..inappropriate. The Cylons nearly obliterated the human race and every indication is that it was a corporate decision. Different versions of the models are differentiated, yes, but that's NOW. Only after prolonged interaction with humanity/other did they demonstrate that capability. Humans in general have every reason to hate the general group that is the Cylons.
