Give me a character like, say, The Doctor from Doctor Who and a fandom like, say, Avatar and I'll tell you that given character's favorite character and maybe their favorite pairing from the given fandom (in this example Avatar).

Well it's entirely possible that with ten Doctors and Nine main Firefly characters opinions have changed.

That being said: Nine is a Mal fan and probably ships Mal/Inara because who else would he ship as a big ol' Mal fan?

Ten I'm less sure about. I almost want to say he's more into Wash and Zoe/Wash.

Off the top of my head I bet One liked Book; Two and Five, Kaylee; Three and Seven, also Mal; Four had a big crush on Zoe; Six had a boy-crush on Jayne although he wouldn't admit to it; and Eight...Inara. Not that this has any sort of logic to it, but it made sense as I was writing it.

I can SO see Ten getting into Wash and Zoe/Wash. :D But, like... trying to hide it. But he went to visit Joss Whedon after Serenity, and neither of them have really been the same since.

Rose Tyler, big Simon/Kaylee shipper? :D

Ten is like 'Wash got split in two at some point right? There's a second one grown out of his ear right? He and Zoe can still be happy together? I demand it!! WHY DO YOU HAVE NO HEART?!?!"

I guess I see Ten's draw to Wash being how much Ten likes humans at their best and Wash is in many ways the most "human" of the crew and he's pretty awesome to boot.

Oh yeah, Rose would love Simon/Kaylee.

Come on, Kaylee is a die hard Doctor/Rose shipper. I mean it's *Kaylee* and they are like the cutest thing to ever cute, and Kaylee likes cute. That said she can't actually choose between Rose and Donna as her favorite character.

Thought of a couple more things on the subject...

-While Kaylee would love the Doctor (and prefers Ten) he's not her favorite character, she'd just want to cuddle him and make it all better.

-She'd be just fine with the end of JE for Rose, although she'd be heartbroken for Donna obviously.

Ooh, what about the crew of Firefly on Doctor Who? Do shipwars break out? Who secretly writes fanfiction?

Mal likes Old School Who better, likes Nine a decent amount, secretly loves Rose but would never admit it, and is scared of Donna (should she ever actually come to life).

Zoe would rather watch Torchwood and loves Jack but when watching DW does love watching the Doctor/Rose relationship.

Wash is a Doctor fanboy and is willing to casually ship the Doctor with lots of people, mostly companions. He can however respect that currently the Doctor loves Rose. When he writes fanfic (because he totally secretly does) he's guilty of some serious self insert Gary Stus.

Inara loves all of them but she has a lot of respect for Martha and probably loves the Doctor the most by a bit although she can never decide if she likes Nine of Ten better (and doesn't care for Old School Who). She totally ships Doctor/Rose and cries like hell over Doomsday.

Jayne claims he doesn't get the point of all this be secretly reads all the Doctor/Rose fanfic he can get his hands on that's at his reading level.

Kaylee loves everyone with Rose and Donna tied for first, *loves* the Doctor/Rose ship; likes Ten better as a character but prefers Nine/Rose slightly.

Simon is basically in love with Martha and although he sympathizes with why Doctor/Martha wasn't a possibility he wishes it were. But he's not going to argue with Kaylee about it.

River, when she's sane enough to, loves the Doctor and ships him with Rose, Jack, and the Master. Also sympathizes a lot with Dalek Caan in JE.

Book is a Nine fan although he still likes Ten, though he also has a secret fanfic project or rewriting post season 1 stuff with Nine. He...has a fundamental respect for Doctor/Rose in how it relates to the Doctor's arc post Time War and does think she's the love of his life, but to say he "ships" them isn't quite right. He also likes Donna.

As far as ship wars on the ship...it's been known to happen to some extent.
