I never watched Viva Laughlin, but I had serious doubts about that one since the original was all of 6 episodes with a clearly and cleverly laid out mystery plot; we'll never know since it didn't even make it that long on American TV (which I laugh at with much schadenfreude). In that respect at least Life on Mars has more of a chance since it does have some mystery of the week aspects it can fall back on to make the bigger plot stretch out, but after too long the 'How much is reality?' plot is going to stretch pretty thin.
How long are you giving the US one? And hmm, I wonder if I can manage to actually watch Ashes to Ashes by the time the US LoM gets canceled, why I never get around to it I really don't know.
