Title: What He Knows Is Coming
Author:
jedi_of_urth
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor, The New Face of Evil, mentions of Rose and Donna (might hint at Doctor/Rose)
Rating: Maybe PG
Word Count: 277
Summary: Why the Doctor is actually able to deal with losing Rose and Donna, it would have been worse if they'd stayed.
Disclaimer: Doctor Who isn’t mine, The New Face of Evil belongs to society
Author's Notes/Warnings (fic): Definite crack, also has angst, spoilers through JE including DW behind the scenes info.
Author’s Notes (flashback): Originally posted July 2008, more trying to deal with Journey’s End be reconciling myself to what it mean when you considered the future of DW. It is still one of the best arguments I can give myself for why it may not have been the worst idea ever (even if I can never make myself like JE).
The Doctor made Donna as comfortable as he could on the jump seat in the consol room while she was unconscious. It had to be done, she’d be dead otherwise, but at least she, like Rose, was protected from what’s coming.
Before he could even set the controls for Chiswick an evil laugh filled the room, causing the Doctor to glare at the monitor. At least the evil wasn’t strong enough to come through fully yet.
“So, Doctor, how are you feeling today?” The evil little man stretched out the word ‘feeling’ like it was a dirty word.
“I won’t let you have them,” he told the man on the screen. “No matter what happens to me, I won’t give you them.”
“Mwahahaha,” he laughs, as if this is the conclusion of his greatest evil scheme ever. He’s such a cliché the Doctor has to fight not to roll his eyes. “You really think you can stop me if I choose them?”
“Yes,” he replied flatly. “Now if you’ll excuse me…”
“Really Doctor this would go so much more smoothly if we just along and you saw things my way.”
The Doctor can’t forget Rose’s or Donna’s faces as he did what he had to do to save them, his new enemy may not know about that yet, but he doubted it would matter to him. “I would think you’d be thanking me, aren’t I making your life easier?”
“Perhaps, I’ll see you soon dear Doctor,” he said and then he signed out.
The Doctor dejectedly set the coordinates, reminding himself again that it was worth it to keep those he loved away from the Oncoming Moffat.
