they could have easily put a close to this relationship several times over, but haven't.
Which is a lot of it, what they've done so far has...not shown them as willing to kill it. I *really* worry once RTD and co. leave because while that set has committed to it and shown their willingness to go there with this story, I can't have faith in an unknown show runner and crew (or Moffat).
Even with all that, I still can't let myself completely trust. The cliches are too deeply ingrained in me, I think.
I'm so used to TPTB not having the guts to really shake things up that that's my biggest worry. To really rock the boat, piss off the fanboys who don't want girl-cooties in the show, to hedge in what later producers/writers might want, by having a canon relationship that in...forever. Yeah, I worry they won't have the guts to go there, but I still think they want to.
