Alright, I'm going to try and do these things, but I don't promise they'll get up with any kind of speed. So here you go, part one of a The Runaway Bride in picture/recap form with my own brand of insanity thrown it. And there are passing references to the rest of season three in case it's all new to you.

-We start off a Donna’s wedding, nothing particularly interesting as far as commenting, but it doesn’t make me wonder about season 4 since we’ve already been introduced to the bit players in Donna’s life how that will impact viewing her as a companion.

-The TARDIS hasn’t moved since the end of Doomsday yet, because that is totally the same place it was while the beach scene was happening. It’s still pretty too.

-I’ve never been completely able to put my finger on what it is that’s different about the dialog here compared to the end of Doomsday, obviously the lighting is brighter, but the performances are slightly differently pitched too, a bit...I don’t know...faster, more manic.

-If Naris puts in a couple more appearances I’ll be very interested, she sounds even wilder than Donna if getting Donna kidnapped on her wedding day etc. seems perfectly like her.

-Donna, validly so, doesn’t take note of the outside of the TARDIS doors, which are oddly blue and have police phone box instructions on them even though they’re in space.

-I do love the talk they have standing there with the doors open.

Even though they’re both still confused, they just connect with each other, while staring out at the grandeur of the universe.

-Slap #1.

I’m not sure he deserved it, but he was getting right up in her space with those instruments and kept talking and she couldn’t understand what he was saying. Sandwiched between a companion with whom personal space was a total non issue and one who would just smile and nod as he babbled, Donna is very different (and hey I made it almost five minutes without making a Rose reference, which are about to become inescapable).

-“For God’s sake get me to the church on time.”

Completely unavoidable that, sorry.

-“I don’t want you here anyway.” Ah poor Doctor, so alone right now, you know five minutes after saying goodbye to the love of his life. Whose shirt by the way is in the consol room for some reason.

No it wasn’t there in Doomsday, but we should pretend it was.

-Donna sees the shirt and uses it as another reason to yell at the Doctor.

It makes the Doctor sad again.

-“She’s gone.”
“Gone where?”
“I lost her.”
Sniff. Poor Doctor. Though interesting to note, this is not a wording he ever uses around Martha, here it’s too recent, he can’t spin it the way he does in the actual season. She’s gone, he lost her, that’s the truth, that he wants and needs her back is also true, but is only subtext here or anywhere.

-“Well you can hurry up and loose me…How do you mean lost?”
Donna’s brain finally catches up with her mouth and the expression on the Doctor’s face and she realizes what he probably means by “lost.” I could see this being key in their interactions next season, it takes her a bit to catch up to what he’s trying to say, but she does get it.

-The Doctor gets upset, but the producers decide that having him throw the shirt out into space is a bad idea, I’m really glad they did.

-Donna’s parents are odd and a bit…like Bridget Jones’ parents, her dad’s so laid back and her mom can’t seem to decide between insisting that Donna didn’t run away but disappeared and insisting that this is some kind of trick. I wonder how much we’ll see of them next year; I don’t think they’d be as interesting as Jackie, but with just a little work they could still beat the Jones’ on characterization.

-As much attention as is drawn to the fact that the TARDIS seems sick here, I’d have expected it was a big plot point (either here or later in the season).

But I still think it’s about Rose. I’ve tried to make it make sense that it’s about Donna and the huon particles, but I can’t quite do it, so it must be Rose who was you know, very connected to the TARDIS.

-Donna learns that the outside is smaller than the inside.

Good we’ve covered that.

-I can’t quite place all the references the Doctor is making about possibilities for what’s happened to Donna, seems like there’s probably more callbacks than just the Slitheen one, but just enjoy the babble. And the fact that you need a stethoscope to examine the TARDIS.

And that Donna is going to be crap at the “Don’t wander off” rule, for which I am very glad.

-What happened to the Doctor’s mobile? Not that I can remember him having one after Boom Town...or before for that matter. But...why doesn’t he have a phone in his pockets?

-I just really enjoy their interaction so much. I can’t remember if I did the first time around, but now, I really really like it.

-More pockets humor, he really isn’t paying attention is he?

-Donna should really be cold running around that dress.

I really think they should avoid doing so much outside when they have to film December stuff in July, it just doesn’t look right.

-Robo-Santas, fun fun fun.

Have my doubts they’ll show up on the Titanic But I like that they reused them in this episode, the more ties back to Rose the better (which is still true, but I just don’t expect them on the Titanic).

-Flying TARDIS is awesome. Completely weird, but awesome.

I would have thought that would have drawn a bit more attention from passing motorists, or the kids’ parents wondering what they were screaming about, but oh well, apparently people really don’t notice (though I suspect Jack found out about it later, but maybe I just like to think that, he was off dealing with some out of time people around this time).
Also, the poor TARDIS has had to put up with a lot of poor treatment this season.

-“Trust me.”
“Is that what you said to her? Your friend, the one you lost, did she trust you?”
First, note that during the majority of Donna’s line the camera remains focused on the Doctor. Second, that’s cold Donna, and you already know that, that’s why you played that card. Heartbreaking too, because we know the answer.
“Yes she did. And she is not dead, she is so alive.”

She always trusted him, and I’ve always felt like part of the problem is he feels a bit like he let her down, but he’s clinging to the one truth that saves him from that, she’ll live, she can be happy, she’s alive. And she might as well be on screen for this as much as she’s part of the scene.

-I’m probably not supposed to wonder what happened to the car with the paralyzed robo-Santa am I?

I hope it didn’t cause an accident or anything, but it would be just like the Doctor not to think of something like that.

And on that note I'll head ooff to get part two in order (I've got the writeing done for both this and S&J, and the pictures for this, but it needs to all be put together).

Yeah. As much as I'm glad that they decided to nix that scene I can still see it happening.

-More pockets humor, he really isn’t paying attention is he?

Hehehe. He isn't paying attention and she has trouble getting to the big picture in addition to the "wandering off" bit. This coming series should be interesting.

Also, the poor TARDIS has had to put up with a lot of poor treatment this season.

I completely agree. And regards to the earlier caption on how the TARDIS wasn't feeling well, I can see how "teleporting" Donna into the TARDIS can take a toll on the old girl. But I always felt there was a part of the ship that also missed Rose and/or was cognizant of the Doctor's feelings and thoughts at the moment.

She always trusted him, and I’ve always felt like part of the problem is he feels a bit like he let her down, but he’s clinging to the one truth that saves him from that, she’ll live, she can be happy, she’s alive.

Very true.

Really enjoyed this picspam! Can't wait for the next two parts!!

Lovely picspam!

I can't give you an in-story reason, because he should totally still have a mobile. But for an external, storywriting reason? If you have the Doctor carrying around a mobile, he's far too easy for people to call up for help, and they tend to prefer him randomly stumbling onto things.
