It seems logical to compare the two shows (or maybe that's just the Up Yours, Downstairs! coverage of both that makes it unavoidable for me, it's what got me to give MS a chance to start with), but they really are quite different. I do think that if someone likes one they'd be smart to give the other a chance, and since they're both good I think they should be more even numbers between the fandoms than there are now. But I'm definitely glad to now someone else out there is watching MS, it's a pretty good story.
I kind of think I might write up more thoughts on the series, I still have more thoughts and it wouldn't take me nearly so long to review it episode by episode as my current project does, but I find myself more inclined to try and write fic than get into the meta for the moment. And it's not like the fic writing is going all that well.
