Yeah, OOC isn't the right word for how they were acting here, but they weren't exactly characterized right either. Regression, shallow understanding, thoughtlessness, it adds up to being not quite right. And yeah, somewhere around episode 15 having the plot push them into a regression phase (if its possilbe for these people to get more petty and childish) but this was flipping a switch to a less dynamic version of their characterizations where it really doesn't fit.
