So...remind me why I came back to this show? I’ll keep it fairly short because I just don’t care enough any more to make think about the episode much more than absolutely necessary.
I will offer the caveat that there’s an outside chance that this episode will improve once we see how the rest of the season plays out. It’s kind of like Stefan’s Ripper phase last year where it could go either way once we have the finished (or so) story to judge; but then Stefan’s Ripper story was actually doing okay until we had more of the full story arc at which point it became shit on a crap cracker and this isn’t even that good to start with.
At this point I just don’t get what they’re trying to do with Elena-doll. Between the sire bond and the forced humanity off there’s nothing of Elena even to pretend is there; this isn’t Elena finally snapped at the death of her brother, this is just Elena-doll on a different mode. But there is still an outside chance that real-Elena could get a story out of this, there’s definitely potential for a real-Elena story in what’s going on here but the odds of that are really slim I know so for how I’m just eye-rolling or glaring at the whole thing.
I am however pretty sure Bonnie’s having an off-screen plot with Silas during all this that I’m ready to see burst out and destroy everything.
Also Klaus and Hayley have NO CHEMISTRY at all. And really it wouldn’t be so bad if it was just about this episode that they were using each other for some end goal, but considering they’re both going off to The Originals next year I suspect TPTB intended this to be an actual thing rather than just a random detour in the story.. Their scenes may have actually been worse than the A-plot (which is saying a lot) because I could not buy into any aspect of their interactions and couldn’t even connect the dots to see at all why those scenes were happening.
So, next week is a flashback episode I take it? I don’t watch the previews, but between Klaus story time and searching for Damon’s past being set up I’m getting a very strong feeling of upcoming flashbacks.
