All of the Originals are great (even if they're unfortunately off screen, or dead in Finn's case), I'd be happy if the show were just about them...oh wait that might actually be a thing, and at this point unless this Elena-doll fiasco gets rectified (I'll even (...mostly) stop complaining about vamp-Elena provided she's allowed to actually BE Elena again) I may only care about The Originals next season. I still have plenty of reservations about that prospect, but I'm to the point where it just about HAS to be better than this.
While the idea of Elijah just being off moping somewhere isn't great at least it's AN explanation for why he hasn't been around (and it only finally occurred to me a little while ago to use the sire-bond to justify Elena's lack of communication but I think it works). Maybe I should write fic about him finally checking his voice mail to find out just how much of a mess they're in without him.
