While I support Jack/Sam I, like you, don't buy it 100%. The fact that after all those years, she still called him by his rank. You're right, they just don't seem like much of a romantic pairing.
The reason I don't like Sheppard/Weir is because their relationship is too much like a mother/son. It would just be wrong. I'm much happier with McWeir as well. :-)
