Okay, now we’re in a strange era of fics. I wrote and submitted them for the LAS competitions but never posted them to my own journal. I’m guessing at the prompts from here on since the comms are now defunct and I can’t check to see what they were. But they were all prompted back in the day.
Title: Some Call it Fate
Author:
jedi_of_urth
Fandom: Farscape
Characters/Pairings: Aeryn Sun, slight Aeryn/John
Rating: PG
Word Count: 160
Prompt: ‘Fate’ (at a guess)
Summary: Aeryn reflects on how the Moya crew came together
Disclaimer: Farscape also isn’t mine
Author's Notes/Warnings (fic): LAS fic, no real spoilers beyond the show’s makeup but unlikely to make sense if you don’t know that.
Author’s Notes (flashback): Originally written April 2011 I think this one went pretty much ignored, and isn’t all that interesting I suppose, just a couple ideas that clicked with the prompt for me.
Peacekeepers don’t believe in fate. Such things were used by lesser people to assign order to their uncivilized lives. Peacekeepers had order, they didn’t need to look for it where it didn’t exist.
Then one day the lives of a Luxan, a Delvian, a Hynerian, a Human, and a Peacekeeper had all come together thanks to a prison riot, a wormhole, and a collision between ships. All of these pieces had come together by chance as far as Aeryn was concerned. That a family was born from those independent events did not mean it was meant to happen that way. Random chance plus cause and effect did not equal fate.
But John believed it had been fate that brought the crew together, that had brought him and Aeryn together. And sometimes, though if asked she wouldn’t have admitted it anyone else, Aeryn would admit to herself that for a collection of random events, it sure looked a lot like fate.
