Wondering where we stand

So, with TVD coming back and The Originals about to premier, I'm wondering how my TVD-verse viewing friends feel about the coming seasons.

[Poll #1936851]

As for the only new show I've had so far this week
SHEILD was a bit better this week than last, I'm still readjusting my hopes for the series but this was a definite improvement. I actually know a couple things about the characters now and we started getting them as a team.

The biggest amusement though? I may have mentioned my DW/SG-1 crossover headcanon a time or two, and this mission to find an alien artifact in South America was one I had in mind for Torchwood in that verse and running against various other nationalistic organizations who want it too. So yeah, SHIELD is basically Torchwood to me now (as in more or less the Torchwood we say in AoG/Doomsday rather than the show TW). I do think Phil is a better team leader than Jack I suppose - Jack would totally have been making out with an enemy agent instead of spotting a trap - so there's that at least.

Torchwood MD full

Well now I’ve actually finished Miracle Day and the rest of it was pretty uneven so in that it was sort of consistent.

Spoilers for all of MD and some of later DW )

Torchwood MD 1-5

Okay, so I’m finally getting around to watching Torchwood: Miracle Day (I know, I’m only a couple years late) but I think I need to say something about it.

(BTW, if y’all aren’t watching sfdebries he’s now reviewing MD which was what prompted this. He’s also just really funny and thoughtful with his reviews all around.)

Spoilers through Ep 5 )

fave characters meme

Reply and I'll give you four fandoms. You then have to make an entry writing about your favorite character from each fandom, and why.

Admitting it

So...I think it's finally happened, Robin Hood has eaten my brain so much that I now care about it more than the Doctor Who verse. All week I've been writing my [livejournal.com profile] bigbanghood fics in the evening instead of watching Torchwood, even though I hear it's been really good. I'm really glad TW is good, and I do want to watch it, and in fact I'd probably react entirely different if it wasn't a matter of 'well I can wait until they're all out and watch them then.'

Cut for writing babble, and some just about RH )

Things and a meme

1) How important are the Torchwood audio plays before watching the new episode? I like to know these things.

2) I was thinking of waiting until this weekend to watch the whole Torchwood set, but I'm weak, I'll probably watch them as they come out.

3) I'm making decent progress on my [livejournal.com profile] bigbanghood fic, mot going as fast as I'd like, it's nice to actually be writing something for once.

4) A meme, snagged from [livejournal.com profile] marble_rose

passing time meme

1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

From [livejournal.com profile] frickangel my letter was T

1. Ten (Doctor Who): This feels a bit like cheating because unless I'm discussing post JE Ten I/Ten II I tend to stick with "The Doctor" (which I suppose starts with T if I was being generous). But also, Ten has really become "my Doctor" over the last few seasons, I loved Nine first and I've watched bit of several other (lots of Four and Five mainly) but Ten is primarily the one I've loved.

2. Toshiko Sato (Torchwood): Oh Tosh, you will be missed sweety . Usually the sanest member of Torchwood Cardiff and although quieter than most, with enough strength to keep fighting until the end. And even saving people from beyond the grave with what you left behind, that takes a special kind of awesome.

3. Tigh, Saul (BSG): Maybe cheating a bit with the name order, but we usually call him "Tigh" anyway. It took me a while to warm up to him since he was so gruff and usually drunk in season 1, but he kept growing on me, and then particularly after the New Caprica story (oh Ellen) he's really become one of the best characters on the show with very complex character story going on.

4. Teal'c (SG1): The only Stargate character I could think of with a T name is actually one of my least favorite main/prominent characters in the franchise. I can see Teal'c's relevance to the plot, but I never really enjoyed his character all that much. That said, I don't dislike him, I just have a really hard time getting into his head.

5. Tam, Simon (Firefly): This one is far more cheating than Tigh since no one calls Simon "Tam" but oh well. Simon is just an all around great guy, particularly an awesome brother, if still very fumbling in the romance department.

Middleman YAY

Okay so I've now seen the first six episodes of Middleman and OMG this show is awesome. It makes me laugh lots and the plots are nearly as cracky as something you might find in the Who-verse. Good crack is a plus apparently; and I can get it *without* my heart getting stomped on repeatedly, what's up with that?

Also, someone needs to write Torchwood/Middleman crossover fic like yesterday (well I still won't be reading it until I'm caught up but you get my drift).

I don't know if there's a lot of vidding potential in this show, but then I'm not being instantly drawn to any ship which is usually my impetus for vidding. We'll see later if something jumps out at me, for now I'll just keep enjoying the fun.

five tops

So, [livejournal.com profile] a_white_rain asked for my top five Doctor Who episodes, and Torchwood episodes (over here), both of which are going to be difficult but for different reasons, I love Doctor Who just SO MUCH and I’m not actually all that familiar with Torchwood, but let’s see if I can do this. These are completely subject to change depending on mood.

Torchwood night? eh

You know, I was racing around trying to find Torchwood, and now that I could watch it, I find I'm not really in the mood for it. Maybe it's that it's two episodes, maybe it's that I think Martha shows up in at least one of them, maybe I'm sidetracked from it right now and not worked up for it tonight, but I'm just not sure I feel like it right now. Suppose I'll have to wait until tomorrow night to weigh in on things Torchwood related.

Oh well, I guess I'll keep watching Stargate instead.

belated Torchwood reaction

I actually did watch the episode last night I just didn't get around to doing my weekly quick thoughts bit. I um...recently started watching Stargate and it's eating my brain, and I still have 8+ seasons to go.
