So I thought I'd share the song that's been going through my head since Tuesday. Song's a few years old but it might as well have been written for now.

Oh right, OBAMA IS PRESIDENT NOW. And it seems that a lot of people in the world share my view that this is a good thing and a thing to be happy about. Catch the Obamania people, we sure need it.

OBAMA WINS!!!!
I know everything isn't going to be magically fixed tomorrow, or inauguration day, or even right after. But for just this moment I feel hopeful, far more so than I have...a long time.
I feel like the Comedy Central coverage gets the award for most amazing timing. I wouldn't be surprised if in future days people long remember where they were when they heard Obama won and I'll have to admit I found out from Jon Stewart but that okay.
Tomorrow the work begins but tonight, let's just be happy that our country had embraced opportunity and hope tonight.
Congratulations President-elect Obama.
Also DOUBLE YAY that in Colorado a person will not be defined as beginning at conception. At least 75% or so of my state is sane.

So I went and voted this afternoon. Now I can pay even less attention to political ads for the next few days, not that I've been paying much attention before since my mind was made up.
More Doctor Who talk in the next couple days, but first things first, how many episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures are there going to be this year? My figuring is all confused since last year included the opening special.

I forgot to do this last time it went around, but I'm doing it now because as worn out as I am by the election drama it is making me want to let me thoughts be known I guess.

So a couple of TV points:
1) Today I randomly saw and paid attention to the commercial for the US Life on Mars, and I swear every line they used in the preview was straight out of the original. Seriously, why not just *show* the original, oh wait because it's only 16 episodes total and you want to somehow stretch it into at least one full US season...good luck with that, I *won't* be watching. BBCA is showing the proper version if I feel the need.
2) Project Runway is totally my guilty pleasure show ( thoughts on last night's episode )
3) Hopefully many political skits on SNL (Thursday SNL, isn't that an oxymoron) tonight. The political arena so deserves it. And thank god for Jon Stewart and pointing out that McCain's points about "I know how to fix this/get bin Ladin/etc." just sound wrong, because dude, if you know these things you don't have to wait until your president to let people know how to achieve them Although he's already demonstrated he can't multitask like that.
Oops. derailing into politics instead of TV, but there's a reason why TDS is so awesome, Jon could be one of my lj friends who's been saying that kind of thing for a while.

POLITICS MAKES ME ANGRY
Actually at the moment I feel more like crying but I'm going to be angry I can tell you.
Look I don't talk politics very often on my journal because I really don't know a lot of what's going on, and in some ways I don't want to know because when I do I just lose faith in everything, but I can't ignore this:

It scares me too much. I'm terrified of and for my country right now. This isn't the country I was raised to believe in.
Politics is upsetting right now, so much of what the current administration is trying to sneak by in the name of "financial security" and while our eyes are on the campaign is just wrong. The McCain/Palin ticket keeps scaring me the more I learn about it. And people keep being stupid about Obama when he's actually running a pretty good campaign so I'm also mad at people.
But this...this upsets me too much to not make a politics post, that's how upset I am by it. It's not just the straw that broke the camel's back (although it is) on it's own it's just that terrifying.
I'd go into the reasons my icon is appropriate, but this isn't about fandom, this is the real world being scary.
