So, thinking about Doctor Who lead me to this
A Small Thing That’s Bothering Me, Or a Sign of Something Worse:
You know with all the things I’ve been spending far too much time yacking about when it comes to season three of Doctor Who, there’s one thing I haven’t had a chance to mention but is bothering me. The TARDIS is being unnervingly precise. They have *once* gotten pulled off course by a distress beckon and never just landed in the wrong place/time.
I think it might be a symptom of the darker season, that even the fun of TARDIS gone wrong is gone. Like licking things. Like faith in the human race. Like every light in his world and his guiding star. Joy is gone from the world, the TARDIS goes where it has to, the Doctor does what he has to, it’s not about fun anymore.

But you're right. We haven't seen the Doctor screw up on times this year, other than to not have an exact date in his head. No "1979...oh...1879." Or "Um, this is London, you dingbat, not New York." Or the Doctor parking the TARDIS so they couldn't get out, and having to redo it. But it could be about them playing down the fun of it all, like you said. I really think it's the same with him not licking a single thing. That over-the-top exuberance is gone.

This season hasn't made time travel seem like nearly as much fun as it seemed in the first couple season.

And the biggest evidence came the past two weeks. The Doctor told Martha that the TARDIS would pick the time, place and situation and that she'd just have to adapt. They ended up in a place that life was miserable for her. TARDIS ain't feeling Martha at all. Wants her gone.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So I'll take your story I suppose.
