Big writing update
Okay, so I’m being talkative today, let’s do a writing update.
1) To Weather the Storm looks like it’s going to be the start of a series, I’ve written the first draft of a sequel story and am working on ideas for what to do next (some of it’s obvious, since my muses have decided there needs to be more plot in what was already porn with plot, but I need to work out what all will be in it).
Here, have a sample:
2)
vd_kink continues to supply me with inspirations, not that I was at a loss for them anyway (anyone remember how I had that post 3x17 fic I wanted to write and haven’t done anything with since about the time 3x18 aired?)
Well, I want to talk about a couple of the ones I’m trying to write.
Interesting prompt 1:
Elena/Elijah/Klaus - Vamp!Elena gets bitten by a werewolf, and Klaus demands payment from both Elijah and Elena after he heals her.
This one interests me, but it’s going dark places I’m really not sure I’m comfortable writing. I’ve written E/E/K before where I basically just ignored creating characterization that made it make sense, opting for straight up PWP; but this prompt makes me need to write plot AND in a way that involves serious consent issues. Plus my Klaus muses keeps telling me that he’d want them to want him, not just make them want him by compelling Elena and essentially compelling Elijah by biting him so he’s delirious enough to agree while healing from a Hybrid bite (my fanwank created for this story before I started writing it as a way to have Elijah ever agree to such a thing if Klaus compelled Elena).
So yeah, I find this plot idea interesting, but way outside my wheelhouse so I’m not sure I’ll end up seeing it through.
Interesting prompt 2:
Elijah/Elena - Elena has to pose as Katherine (for whatever reason). Elijah, however, quickly figures out she's not Katherine and decides to see how far she'll go with the act. Whether Elena eventually realizes that he knows or not is up to you.
The further discussion of this prompt says it doesn’t even need smut (and if there is the OP would prefer it to be after everyone’s being honest), so all it needs to be is plot. As if I needed more plot-heavy plot bunnies. And this one seriously could end up being another epic bout of talking, maybe even MORE so than TWTS, since there I kept intending them to get to the sexing even if it took a while. Also I’ve ended up setting it after the s3 finale so there’s a lot to talk about.
This one is in my wheelhouse, but will probably take an age and a half to finish between all the other plot bunnies I have going.
3) Things I'm not doing: working on my 100 drabbles of summer (I think I have like 4 done). Also not vidding, but vid muses are starting to get antsy and telling me I really DO want to do some of that (not that I'm arguing with them, just haven't been feeling the drive).
However, here’s the second draft of the unfulfilled shipping meme. Better? Worse? Still needs work?
31 days of unfulfilled shipping
1. Favorite ship from a currently airing show you know will never be
2. Favorite ship from a finished show that never got to be.
3. Favorite ship the writers keep/kept ship teasing but clearly would never develop.
4. The ship with the most annoying ship teasing even though you shipped them.
5. The ship where you ship them because you hate their canon love interests.
6. The ship where you ship them in spite of liking their canon love interests
7. Favorite slash ship between canonically straight characters.
8. Favorite unrequited love story.
9. The ship that is still your favorite even though they broke up.
10. The ship screwed over for behind the scenes reasons outside writers’ control (for example: actors wanting to pursue other roles).
11. The ship screwed over for behind the scenes reasons within the writers’ control (for example: believing characters are more interesting single).
12. The ship you hope the writers never develop/are glad they didn’t because they would ruin it.
13. The ship you shipped until the writers did put them together and DID IT WRONG.
14. The ship you don’t want to get together before the end of the show, because you know they could never last while the show is running.
15. Favorite ship that got together in the end but that’s just not enough.
16. The ship where you love everything about except how they ended up.
17. Favorite ship that you know would be a trainwreck but need them to get together anyway.
18. The ship you want to hook up briefly but know wouldn’t work as a couple.
19. Favorite ship you that think resolving the UST would kill for you.
20. Favorite ship where resolving the UST might just kill you with joy.
21. Favorite ship whose show was canceled before they had a chance to start.
22. Favorite ship between minor characters that canon doesn’t address.
23. Favorite flash in the pan ship that never stood a chance.
24. Favorite episodic love interest you wish canon hadn’t forgotten about.
25. Love triangle (or more) that you know exactly how it should end even if the writers don’t.
26. Love triangle (or more) that would best be resolved by the characters embracing polyamory.
27. The ship you will read anything about because there’s so little.
28. The ship you love but fandom hates.
29. The loneliest ship you sail.
30. Characters you just want to see get a happy ending, whether or not it’s in your preferred pairing.
31. Anything else you didn’t get to discuss.

“Would you like something else to drink?” Elijah asked, keeping her awake another moment. She nodded and felt him get up, heard him cross the room and run the faucet in the bathroom and return, pressing a glass into her hand.
Only at that point did Elena open her eyes again, and smile up at him as she drank the cool water he’d brought. “Thanks,” she said, grateful to have washed some of the taste of blood out of her mouth. Another drink and most of the aftertaste was gone, and finishing off the glass took care of it.
Before Elijah took the glass back he traced a finger across the already healing tender spots on her neck, making her shiver slightly. “I do prefer being nice to you.”
“Me too,” she agreed as his fingers brushed hers when he reached for the glass. This time Elena eyes stayed open, tracking his naked form as it crossed the bedroom. As tired as she was her mind was slow to fully absorb his words. She was slow to recall her own request that he not be nice to her while they were having sex; he’d gone along with it, but he’d stopped short of really hurting her and since then kept assuring her that that wasn’t what he wanted.
She smiled at him as he returned, turned off the light, and got back into bed. Then she reached out to hold his cheek in her hand. “Next time you can be as nice as you want,” she promised. He looked slightly surprised, but allowed her to slide into his arms without saying anything more. If she hadn’t been so tired she’d have done more than mold her naked body against his, but all she was interested in right now was sleep.
