So the best I could do on short notice is getting down a compressed version of my view of how the CW's 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' should have ended for Oliver. Because it makes no sense for him to have been dead at the end of that story. And yes, I used a modified/truncated
1sentence format because the snapshot format really does help me...skip stones across a fic idea without needing to get down in the depths of it. Also, obviously unbeted, not even properly edited by me (if I end up expanding it or something I would need to do both) and basically rushed out and posted before I had time to convince myself it wasn't worth sharing even for this challenge.
-Outside-
From the outside, the small house Oliver and Felicity had retreated to for the last few months painted an idyllic picture of a life that could have been; neither Sara nor Barry was looking forward to forcing the truth of Oliver’s death into this place.
-Fight-
“Hey guys,” Oliver said, answering the door with a smile on his face that Barry had never seen on him before and Sara rarely had, “I’m guessing you’re not just coming by for a visit; what are we up against?”
-Option-
Everything had been moving too fast for anyone to consider that this was even an option; that when Oliver remade the universe there was no reason the new universe’s Oliver would have had to face the Crisis of the old world.
-Faint-
Both Barry and Sara were looking at Oliver like he’d grown a second head, and those two had seen enough weird stuff that if they looked about to faint it must be serious.
-Armor-
Oliver was still waiting for an explanation as Felicity joined them in the living room; “What’s up guys, are we suiting up or not?”
-Forget-
They hadn’t brought J’onn along to restore anyone’s memories of the other timeline, so they had to actually try and explain what had happened; Sara let Barry do most of the talking, he didn’t explain it well but she doubted she’d have done better.
-Touch-
Oliver’s arm held Felicity tight at his side, as her hand clenched his as if she was all that stood between him and the fate that had befallen him in the other world; he couldn’t blame her if she thought that, he’d told her so many times that she, more than gravity, was what tied him to this world.
-Smell-
“Shit,” Oliver said, launching himself to the kitchen trying to stop dinner from burning with the same vigor he usually put into chasing bad guys.
-Baby-
When offered, Sara took the opportunity to hold baby Mia who had been a young woman the last time Sara saw her; and she hoped this Mia would never become that one, that this baby girl would grow up with the happiness the other had been denied.
-Game-
Of course he and Felicity would talk about it later, but it was easy for Oliver to talk to Sara as they set the table; he didn’t need someone to give him back those memories, even if the stakes they had faced were infinitely high, the cost of leaving his family behind was a pain quite easy for Oliver to understand.
-Always-
While Oliver and Felicity were always willing to step up if they were needed in a fight, they weren’t needed now and what they needed was time together to deal with what they’d learned; so Sara and Barry left, happier if somewhat more confused that when they had arrived.
-East-
The sun would come up tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, because Oliver Queen had given his life to save the universe; and for once the universe had returned the favor and given him back his life.
