Vidding fun

I'm loving and hating my current vidding project

Loving because it's cracking me up as it's like the greatest hits of Guy's socially inept attempts to court Marian, he's such a goober.

Hating because it's reminding me how much I miss it this season.

Somewhere in the middle having to do with the vidding itself being a very different tempo and tone than I'm used to doing, fun and different is good, but change and me are not exactly friends.

HA!!! LOL! I know. I love his complete ineptitude. Yet so sad, too. So sweet. So inept. So dweebie, yet at times scary... verging on restraining order-time. Which isn't funny. But that was more S1. So S2? Cool.

***la la la...goes skipping quietly off into memory land, happy in the knowledge that Guy and Marian are BOTH alive and well....and Guy is still trying...***

There's plenty of times even in S1 where he's just so *awkward* around her. Sure he can be very intimidating and stalkery sometimes, which yeah does go down a bit in S2, but he *tries* so hard but clearly has no clue. Of course I'm sure he thinks he's trying even when he's being stalkery so it all goes together.

Bottom line for me? Guy has very few social skills overall, so has to rely on what little he learned as a child and...from Vasey. Ewwww. No wonder. Really doing the best he can. Very sad, really. And doesn't Armitage play him well that way? Really works to add balance to all of the tough, stomping, black leather killer...stuff. ;-)

Guy really does come off to me as a very tragic figure. I think a lot of that is owed to RA's acting, but not exclusively by any means. The other factors seem fully aware also that Guy isn't Vasey; Vasey's the card carrying villain whereas Guy is a lost soul who had very limited choices in life.

Guy is just bad with people overall, he'd never be one to worry about "hearts and minds" or have any concept how to play them. His brutish side has been cultivated by Vasey over the years but his other qualities weren't something Vasey cared to tend to, and in many cases was actively against, so any change in circumstance Guy doesn't really know how to do, so he becomes adorably awkward instead.

I agree with all you points. Very good. Very astute!
And "adorably awkward" really sums it up. Kind of like a baby giraffe, first standing and getting its legs. Or a great dane trying to be a lap dog (in the best sense) and having no concept that he's sprawled all over the place. (Can you tell I like animal analogies? ;-) ) So, how's the video coming? I can't wait to see it...when you choose to share. GOOD LUCK!! ;-)

That's actually a really good analogy for Guy on several fronts isn't it?

I'm getting to the point in the vidding where I'm going to need to decide ow I'm going to post it, I'm working on it as part of a series and wondering if I should post them as I get done, wait so they post in order, or wait until I have all of them, but I've made decent progress.

Thanks! ;-) Especially if you've ever had a big, long-legged dog try to climb up into your lap to cuddle and just wanting to be loved... yup. Very "Guy." ;-)

I was kind of thinking of my grandparents' old dog that they had for a lot of years. Rottweiler (or at least partly I can't remember if we even knew for sure), but she was a total lap dog at heart. A lot of times rottweilers are, or at least are thought of as, mean and vicious dogs; they make good guard/attack dogs. And yeah pretty good sized obviously, but I'm not sure she ever quite figured out she wasn't a lap dog.

Not the same as Guy obviously, but given different circumstances...

I downloaded the first epi of this season but haven't even watched it yet. I can't imagine any kind of Robin Hood without a Marian.

It's odd not having Marian, or Will and Djac. And this season is still waiting to find it's spark I think, it has moments but...well it might have something to do with the fact that Guy's been missing for the last couple episodes.
