catch up not catsup
So, going out of town for a week means I am behind on lj and TV, and at least some of the TV I wanted to see before I really tackled the lj part of that. Of course I still haven't gotten to Dollhouse which I'm pretty sure a good portion on my f-list is mentioning.
But, a couple of things I am caught up on:
Heroes:
This volume is looking much more promising. We're finally getting movement on creating an actual Heroes universe rather than...what it's been recently.
Positive aspects:
-For once I actually find Sylar passably interesting, this hasn't happened to me since season 1, and since it seems to be a big deal for the moment this is a good thing. Mini-Sylar is an interesting addition.
-Finally some 'My Two Dads' scenes with Nathan and Noah. I've been waiting for that since we found out Nathan was Claire's father. Although we're still missing the "um, you tried to capture me that one time" conversation.
-The general darker turn, and the consequences of things happening. Let's hope it continues. Not that I want the show to get into BSG level darkness, we don't need that.
Still waiting to see aspects:
-Aww, my boy Noah finally getting called out on all the lying aligning himself with shady oppressions. I love Noah to an insane amount but he needed it, I just feel bad since his family is literally EVERYTHING to him and he's on the outs with them (umm, Lyle, too bad you have no role in all this). This could work out to be an awesome story arc, but we'll see. I hope they don't too much commit to hero of villain side for him, the ambiguity is a lot of the appeal (or maybe they just feel that Nathan's taking over that role now, I can't say).
-When will Audrey get involved? Come on, she needs to be, that or working on the underground...
-More depth of reasoning by Nathan and Noah. They're both really complex characters and they're current actions could stand a little more fleshing out.
-I'm glad Claire's getting to play some role in the action but the way the chips are falling so far does seem a little sexist. The boys are off forming the resistance and Tracy gets captured (and has apparently gotten less conflicted about killing along the line), Daphne captured or killed, and Claire's a bit cornered in.
Not working aspects:
-Grr, Hiro and his destiny shtick again. I am so DAMN SICK OF IT.
-Also how are the renegade heroes managing to travel all around the world when they can't access fund or dare to show up on any report?
BSG
Well, oddly enough things make more sense, I can't recall the last time I said that after a BSG episode. Granted it was a lot of talking and exposition and back story but still it explained thing more that were really getting too convoluted.
Plus Ellen.
Please to not be pairing up Chief/Boomer again. It was too heavy handed a set up here, and while I'm glad Boomer will be back with the fleet I just don't want that to come back. But then I was shipping Chief/Cally back before Boomer died and am already pissed off that Nicky isn't exactly Galen's son that I just can't take it. *Maybe* it it ends with sort of an epilogue set in the future I could handle them being together then but not getting back together straight away.
On that subject could we kindly get the story to acknowledge Tory killing Cally? Really I need this to be dealt with.
Well, if Sam dies at least he got to do more than finish killing off people in the love pentagon (sniff Billy, <= sniff Dee). His dying was to get all that backstory out there...although with Ellen coming back anyway they could have done it differently.
After my rant against Jacob's racism shtick a couple weeks ago, reading the recaplet (will not be reading the recap though I'm sure) he makes a good point about "Daniel" possibly being Kara's father. If they can actually manage to make this make some kind of sense with less hinging on divine intervention I'd be thrilled and that works.
Why was there a gold centurion in the opening section? That was just weird.
I am still weirded out by the Tigh/Six relationship. Also when did she move in with Tigh? It can't be just a post mutiny thing since she made reference to cleaning out the liquor supply weeks ago (and see as Sam is in surgery for wounds sustained during said mutiny it must be right after). Maybe there was more of a gap between Gaeta (sniff) joining Zarek and the mutiny than we were aware of. Bears repeating that that ship is weird even by BSG standards.
On non-Cylon related things, finally Laura recognizes that she needs to turn the government over to Lee. *And* Lee recognizes the stupidity of keeping the colonial designations. They are humans of the fleet, not even of the colonies any more, no matter where they end up the colonial distinctions won't make sense.
Although I'm hoping the dying leader turns out to be Galactica herself and Laura lives a long full life. They've cured Laura before kind of like they're now doing with Galactica, let's get to work on that.
Yay Ellen.
