Doctor Who things I

Okay so there's a transcript of the cut scene from JE out there, and there's Moffat-ism news...but for right now I'm going to focus on the Journey's End stuff, I'll rant about Moffat later.

I do think the JE beach scene would have been improved by that bit of interaction. No matter if some of the lines could have used tweaking or I probably would have wound up being mad at Ten I for the extra lying to Rose, it would have done a lot of good.

For the record, I have never needed the TARDIS coral to be canon, still don't, for me it's not that that's making me wish this was in. I think Ten II going on that "one adventure [he thought] he could never have" is going to be plenty of adventure. And it's not like Rose's life at Torchwood (which I'd have bet he became a part of) was going to be boring.

--Also side note, I bet Harriet is still President there, which makes me feel better and provides even more reason I want to see more of the adventures in that universe. Not that she has the same history with the Doctor and Rose I admit, but still it's Harriet.--

What I hadn't realized until I read that was that for me the TARDIS coral isn't necessary for me with Ten II, but it's really important for accepting that Rose did get the real Doctor. What the cut scene does is help me understand the Doctors' (Ten I and II since they think the same) reasoning regarding this choice for Rose a bit more. He really did think life with Ten II was better for her; Torchwood, TARDIS, whatever, having someone human who was also the man she fell in love with was the better end. He wasn't exiling her from the life she wanted (by giving them some TARDIS coral), just...thinking this was the better way to go at it.

By returning the "the Doctor in the TARDIS with Rose Tyler" line it also helps me believe he did see Ten II as the same man. Not just some offshoot of him that needed fixing, but the him who could have the life with her that he still thinks he can't (which...you know Doctor logic is not always exactly something I always call logic). It wasn't even about exiling Ten II because he needed fixing, that idea never sat quite right with me, it's Ten I thinking he's making the grand sacrifice so that Rose can have the life she deserves, with him (just in a blue suit) in a way he can't offer.

Still sucks for Ten I, and he's still an idiot, but at least he was trying to do the right thing (again with the Doctor logic). Still not sure I'll use this in the fanfis ideas I have, but I like it as canon I think.

So yeah, RTD, please to be confirming this as canon at some point, it makes me feel better.

When Moffat opens his mouth and starts going on about change being the heart of the programme, it makes me think all the more that DT isn't staying for a single frame of Moffat's Who, and boy is he bitter about it.

That would make me so happy.

Though if David was on the fence and then heard what Moffat had to say about Rose, that might tip him towards leaving because David adores him some Rose and Billie.

Sorry to come into a conversation but, what did Moffat say about Rose?

When asked about whether or not Rose and Ten II would return in his run, he said, "You have to give the Doctor credit for dumping a slightly clingy girlfiriend."

Which disrespects Rose, the Doctor and his relationship with her, and canon, all in one sentence.

It's a whole lot of disrespect in one small sentence.

Seriously, look at the Doctor's pouty lip in my icon. Dude. Neediness personified.

Mostly when David played it like the Doctor was really sad about leaving Rose.
Then again, we must remember Moffat's bad opinion of women...

I really hope this is the case. I might be perfectly happy to drop the show, if so. And that's not something I'd undertake lightly, as Who is MY SHOW, more so than any show has ever been.

But Moffat clearly hates Rose, and the ship (and I suspect all women in general), and will certainly completely ignore any of the emotional aftereffects of it and will, effectively, destroy the character of the Doctor.

As for the cut scene... well, with a bit of tweaking... it would have given the ending a bit more of a... I dunno, a feeling of amicable parting? That Rose understood completely, before the snog, that the older Doctor was leaving? That she appeared to accept the decision instead of having it thrust at her. Maybe. Hard to say without it being played out.

Also, interesting that the "Doctor in the TARDIS with Rose Tyler line" was spoken originally by Mickey when, presumably, the Doctor wasn't around to hear it (busy piloting the TARDIS out of PW). It'd be another one of those 'how much knowledge does the Doctor actually have?' moments, if it made it on screen.

And are we given to understand that it WAS actually filmed, then?

Apparently the DWM article seems to indicate it was. I'll have to look it up for myself once I receive my copy.

Gosh, it's really too bad Big finish productions don't have a contract so they can write about Nine & Ten, huh?
We SO need some (more or less) canon adventures with Ten II & Rose (and Baby!tardis). It's the only Happy!Who we could get... mostly with Moffat becoming headwriter...
I watched the Bad Wolf Bay II scene once again today and it DOES look like he's exiling her too, doesn' it? The girl he loves, the one who came back for him.... so what? She can look after his other self, the one he accuses of killing the daleks (while HE did worst, with the family of Blood for instance).
All the reasons he gives her are WRONG.
Is it just me, or was this scene really bad written? It just sounded wrong.
Sort of, the future Doctor will manipulate River into the ultimate sacrifice we know... But here, this isn't even manipulation, this is an order. He doesn't even give her the choice. Ten II does "If you want" he says. Ten I just tells them what they're supposed to do and then he runs away.
This is the Doctor River will meet. The one who stares at the armies and snaps at the tardis (poor old girl!).
This is the future Valeyard.
Master, please! Save us!
